What exactly is classed as new now, given you seem to be marking races I’ve completed on lego island etc etc, as new?
I think this is the same “New” as “New Player” when gifting cars in FH5…

I’m not showing anything new on Lego Island. Possibly this is a weekly playlist event that you haven’t done yet.

If you win it as part of a championship you get the gold and bricks, but still shows new until you race it stand-alone. IIRC.
Pretty sure if you do a custom event restriction instead of the default, it will mark as new. Happened to me constantly in 5 until I redid them on the default restrictions the game set.
All of them were done on the defaults etc, none were custom (strangely, only seeing it on the lego and Fortune Island ones, not seeing any on the main island).
They all show as previously completed too, but still show New (I’ve given up trying to work it out at this point, just end up doing them anyway to get rid of the New banner appearing below them (OCD can’t stand it lol)).

I’m a bit late to the show but…
I noticed a “New” tag in FH5 today. Because it’s a seasonal event, I’m thinking, so even though it was completed, it’s “New”… ish 
Maybe the same for you in FH4. Or maybe, maybe even more likely, it’s a just a “New” bug… sorry
