Hi,
My name is Marcelo and I’m lead engineer at Sim Racing Studio, we develop hardware and software for Sim Racing.
Our software supports FH4, FH5 and FM7, we have over 15000 on out platform, and this week alone +150 raced on the FH5.
Everything is working fine to the Data Out Telemetry for FH5 of Windows Store.
But it’s not working on the Steam Version. Basically the Game does not send the UDP Packets to the localhost/local ip.
Researching on Google, this not only affect our software, but also other applications as well.
On this page a user found an workaround.:
Forza Horizon 4 Plugin | Page 3
To get FH5 working with the Steam version, you need to set up port forwarding on your router.
I have the Steam version and managed to get motion from it last night. If you plan to use the FH4 plugin until a proper FH5 plugin is created, it’ll need to be a manual start version.
Steps to get it running;
- Go to your router settings and navigate to port forwarding.
- Set up a port forwarding rule as the following; External ports = 4122, Internal ports = 4123. Click Save.
- Get your internet ip address and note it down.
- Launch FH5, go to settings, turn data out ‘on’, input your internet ip address in the ip address box, and lastly input 4122 in the port box.
- Press space bar to save the changes you made.
FH5 will now work with motion and pretty much any other app you are using.
Based on what he/she described, I believe the steam version, sends the UDP packets of data out to the Router IP Address, instead of the localhost or broadcast to entire network.
Although the workaround seems to work, it’s not ideal ask non tech users to change router settings.
Can you please have a look into this issue ASAP? Today alone we received more than 10 tickets of customers complaining that the FH5 is not sending telemetry.
