So I thought I’d try out the design editor myself as I never used it before while playing FH3. I came up with this interpretation of Ken Maeda’s Trueno AE86 from the Japanese D1GP drifting series. I didn’t find a lot of photos as source material but I tried to stay as close as possible to the original design and use the brand stickers I could find.
Yes, it’s kind of weird but the stickers are mirrored on the other side as that’s a pretty common sight in the D1GP series. I could maybe turn them the right way but so far I didn’t find an option to mirror the stickers as I just used the option to take over everything from one side to the other.
All the rest is done meticulously and some hours passed until I was satisfied with it.
Leave your comments below and please let me know some little tips and tricks on using the editor. Unfortunately I can’t put it up for download somehow, the game told me something about my design being locked from publishing…
After finishing the livery on the Fairlady Z today, I decided to slightly rework the Trueno livery. Added some details and fine tuned some decals. Turned out like this, feel free to comment.
Matt you’ve got a really good design there! Not easy painting D1GP cars as to say they are full of decals is an understatement!
I would if you can just revisit the Up-Garage Logo outlining a bit to tweek it to be more outlined. There is a few bits that look less stroked than others.
Look forward to seeing the Fairlady Z you’ve done.
It actually should be the 350Z but there is none in FH3. Yeah, I’d love to improve the Up Garage decal but I really have no clue on how to do this. This is the only decal I could find which looks best IMO but unfortunately it has this green background. I’m not creating the decals myself, I’m taking the ones I can find on the storefront. That’s also the reason why I can’t publish this design for others to use. Do you have some advice on how to outline the Up Garage logo? I’m still not deeply experienced in the editor.
Ah Sorry Matt i had assumed it was self created.
The only way to correct would be to remake it yourself i’m afraid. If its for your enjoyment then dont worry too much
The Fairlady Z is the 350z btw, they are one and the same. Just different countries run different idents on some vehicles
How do people actually create those decals? I’d love to create my own ones but I mean, I heard that they are piecing them together from what’s available in the decal editor (like those shapes, flames, stripes etc.). But I can’t believe that’s true as all those logos I’m finding are looking so realistic that I would assume they’re simply imported textures and it would take ages to piece them together like this.
They are created in that exact way! No trickery no uploading just time and patience!
I’ve been painting since Forza 2 learnt a lot in that time but it still amazes me too
If that’s true then… that’s… insane! I probably wouldn’t have that much patience to do them like they do but they have my biggest respect. I don’t even wanna know how long it would take me to create all those D1GP decals on my own plus the livery to actually be able to publish it. Pity I can’t publish it using the decals I found.
The game allows us to sell cars with other people’s content so you could always chuck a few in the AH & see how they go? Or you could have a go at creating the decals yourself, it does take time & patience but you never know, you might be a natural at it. Be warned though… Forza painting can be highly addictive!!!
Hi matt, the easiest way to create decals is to search a good decal in the storefronts .Download it and put it on a car quite large. Now you just have to cover the existing decal with your own shapes. So you don’t have to worry about the porportions, you just have to copy
