Just received a gift from “unknown”, a Peel P50 that is blue when the default appearance is applied. It’s not an autoshow car so there is no option to acquire one that is not red, as far as I know. There’s the obvious answer but what about legitimate ways?
Pretty sure the P50 is blue by default and the Trident is red but I don’t have the game running at the mo to check.
As far as I know they’re both still Non Autoshow cars as you say but both were available in two old series playlists - 2, 9 & 13…
So they’ll probably come back at some point - maybe this one as I haven’t fully listed it out yet.

When one paints a car one of the factory colors and sends it through the auction house or gift system it changes the default factory color to the last factory color applied.
@AAORTA they both default red and the Trident is in the autoshow.

I was thinking of expanding my “list of cars” post to include that kind of thing but that feels like the start of a “how long is a piece of string?” kind of activity

It used to change all the time but seemed to have settled down for a while.
Might be time to redo my listings.
See they also dropped the price on the Trident so they’ve probably messed with the perks as well.
Annoying as it’s hard to keep up unless they tell you.
