CUPRA Formentor VZ5 & Tavascan Concept

I never remove any cars from my garage, unless they are duplicates.
What I like (a lot) about Horizon is that very car has its own character within the limits of the arcade-like physics. So I keep every car. Most of them get some use in some form.

To each their own of course and didn’t mean to get personal. I just think that there are a lot of people on this forum who write off a car just because it is an EV, even though it doesn’t handle different in any substantial way than an Audi of the same size.

I have several duplicates in my garage lol – I only keep the cars that I intend to drive, like or use for races

I probably have no less than ten variations of 92 and 05 NSX’s with different powerplants in them simply because of their mannerisms, the way they feel and behave.

I wont lie, I am one of those people who write off an EV pretty much instantly. I don’t like the way they handle, drive like golf karts, feel in turns, sound and even look – in real life and in game.

I am still laughing at the idea of being able to swap out electric powerplants for one another (also does the Mission R 1100hp motor increase the weight in this case?), because of how hard it is to order one brand new or unmolested (only EV West sells brand new drop in’s for muscle cars), and overcome the software complexities of all components involved, there are probably 5 EV swapped vehicles here in the U.S for that reason alone.

Not trying to be a Richard about it… just trying to be real about it lol

Imagine someone saying something similar about all cars with a combustion engine :joy:

But as I said: to each their own.

True… That would certainly be something we would have to imagine being said for sure haha!

Believe me, there are many people out there who have this mentality too.

I was not referring to the pollution aspect. I doubt anyone will tell you every car with a combustion engine handles/drives terribly. Anyway, was a last side note.

I wasn’t referring to the pollution aspect either. I have met car enthusiasts online and in-person who have written off combustions after EVs starting gaining more of a foothold in the market.

And, if I may, what do you think of those opinions ? Totally valueless ravings of fanatics without basis in fact and simply mad about it to the point of not listening to reason ? Or a fair take based on all the evidence ?

I am well-aware of the “Pot meet kettle” analogy that you’re clearly alluding to. However, I have adopted a more aggressive anti-EV approach because of these kind of fanatics. I’ll admit it is not a good idea to put everyone in a small box, but a major portion of why I don’t like EVs rests with the most vehement part of their fanbase. I would be more understanding of them if more of them were understanding of me.

To the forum’s credit though, there aren’t many fanatics like that here. However, when you’re on as many different automotive centric websites as I am (i.e. r/cars, Top Gear, the YouTube automotive community), it’s hard not to blend the car community as a whole together when you encounter many of the same kind of people in different spaces.

But why let your opinion be influenced so much by others with a strong (different) opinion?

Strong polarisation of discussions seems to be the standard for the past 15 odd years, where you are either in favour or against something. You are Team EV (from e208 to Nevera) OR Team Combustion (from ehh… well… let’s start at Focus RS to Jesko). Stubbornness rules.

It makes no sense that the whole spectrum of what EV adds to the automotive industry is reduced to a simple “they make terrible noise”.
(I can’t take any generalisation about car handling in EVs seriously with the only exception that the power band is very different of course and you don’t get the ‘kick’ of feeling your car go over it again with every gear shift.)

Now I am the last to say the Tavascan is the most amazing car ever to be produced. It is a daily driver and I I never got why people buy heavy SUVs for European (sub)urban travel. But to write it off just because it is an EV makes no sense.

But we’re not, we know what we like and we know what our expectations are. It’s having higher standards, I guess lol

You answered why many of us wrote it off instantly right here lol

right.

It doesn’t sound like the automotive scene is very exciting from where you are from, your username and use of “favourite,” leads me to believe the UK – which recently had a wave of EV’s replace their weed-eater powered cereal boxes, so naturally most anything else seems exciting.

I am trying to make a point which you don’t seem to (want to) comprehend. This could be my fault of course, but please let’s agree to disagree.

We’ll just say its down to “user preferences” lol

At the end of the day, I just have my tastes. Differnt folks, different strokes. I do try to give every EV added to the game a chance to prove it self, but nine of out of ten times, there’s just usually something wrong with it that makes me want to stay away, whether it be an obnoxious transmission whine, bloated weight that vastly affects cornering, general numbness from the lack of having a traditional transmission, or the complete abandonment of decades-long manufacturer philosphies. I give fair chances, but with EVs (for me, at least), there hasn’t been much of a payoff for giving a fair chance.

I don’t try to give EV’s a chance for the most part. Especially the sedans and suvs. Don’t like 'em, don’t want 'em in the game, don’t want one in real life. I will give the cars like the Rimac and such a good chance. I actually like the Rimac. But they (insert something here) the pooch with the second Rimac and it’s just a bunch of junk. Have I driven the two new Cupras? No. Will I? Most likely never. I drove the first one once, I think we had to for some reason, I don’t really remember.

I won’t get the hummer EV more so because I don’t really care for hummers in general than the EV. But since it’s an EV too it hits 2 strikes right off.

So I guess I’m a write it off just because it’s an EV guy. Just my preference and it makes sense for me.

I’m in the position of detesting electric cars offline. They are sterile slabs of things and over the long run environmentally toxic. I find them senseless, even sinister things. Why isn’t there proper investment in hydrogen propulsion?

I like the EVs in this game though. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want them to claw space away from the fossil fueled cars with their fire in their bellies but what can I say? – I have had fun competing in the lotus evija, that Mini FE, that earlier Cupra.

If we are backing things up to what makes sense…

Can someone explain how this car managed to be entered into the game at a time it only had 16 total votes on the Wish List?

I can’t wrap my head around that part outside of there being no way to just get the license for the Fermentor without it.

Which differentiates them from IC cars how ?

As for Hydrogen power salvation, ultimately just another day, same as the day before.
