Crashing after pressing enter on menu screen [PC]

I literally played last night, no problems. Get on today after work, do nothing but start PC, then go to start FH4, when it loads up, says press enter to start, do so. Crash. I tried everything, nothing is up, set FH4 as priority in task manager.

What is happening?

You are not alone, The first week the game ran near perfect on pc for me. high fps, no crashes, no big issues,etc… but now today I can’t get past the main menu since the update came. Everytime it crashes where you see CONTINUE/OPTIONS,etc…

Hope they fix it soon or I might have to redownload it all. My guess is that todays update wasn’t tested well enough and is causing issues.

I hope so. I was looking SO forward to playing today. Hopefully a fix is around the corner.

Yup me to! Me and a buddy where all excited to get on and do some more Forzathons together, had a blast last week doing them together. I really hope they do a hotfix update soon to fix this, I really dont want to download the whole game again… but it might be the only option… tempted to just uninstall the game and redownload, but might hold off and wait, see if a hotfix comes out soon or some other work arounds.

I could see if it will play on my One X but I have been enjoying Forza Horizon 4 on my PC up until today’s update broke the game completely!

Same issue, no problems yesterday. Today shortly after pressing “Start” and showing the “Continue, Options, …” screen sound stutters and game crashes to desktop :-(.

Me too, played everyday since release with perfect permonace but today I can only use game as screensaver in menu.

I played four hours ago still, now i started the game up and it crashes to desktop just like you guys describe. What’s going on?

Try to uninstall and reinstall the game. It work for me.

Same issue here, I’ve played it since the release day and since today it’s frezzing after pressing ENTER.

I fixed it by redownloading the game. Yes a pain in the butt… but it worked and I was able to play for 3 hours straight last night.
Now it is a HUGE download on PC, so I know everyone won’t want to redownload (I sure didn’t), but it is a way to get playing (atleast for me it was).

Hope they fix this issue for upcomign updates! I had this once during Horizon 3 to (when the Blizzard Mountain expansion/update came, it made me redownload the whole game).

I played this morning, THIS MORNING! with no problems at all and this afternoon I couldn’t play. And I don’t want to download it again, it takes a lot of time to me.

Having this same issue. . . feels awkward to have a game that can’t be played. . . XD

Same thing happened to me. The game started and ran fine for me until yesterday’s update. Now it crashes a few seconds after the “continue” option appears. I don’t even have to select “continue” for it to crash. Pretty frustrating. I guess I’ll need to uninstall/reinstall to get it working. I assume my progress is saved on the cloud, right? I wouldn’t want to lose all of my progress and cars. I found out where the local saves are kept, but that file/folder hasn’t been updated since October 2nd, which is very strange since I played it on the 9th. I figured backing up the save file just in case would be a good idea, but maybe that is also messed up or not updated with my most recent progress.

Same issue here, I tried going into the Windows Store and there is an option to RESET the app, but it still crashes in the same place. I tried turning on spatial sound and all the suggested known issues to see if it was something here but nope, can’t get it to load and I don’t have the bandwidth to re-download it again for a while. Is there no quality control? Ridiculous.

Just to add to what others have said, I also had the issue post-patch that the game crashes when pressing enter on the splash screen but reinstalling the game fixed the issue for me.

Granted, it’s not an ideal solution, but I’d rather play than not play. It is definitely worth trying reinstalling if you are affected.

My connection is awful, I cannot redownload this :frowning:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, and I still have this problem, so it doesn’t work for everyone.
