I just noticed this problem:
I get past the main menù, I hit “Continue” then the game freezes and I have to turn it down with task manager.
If the game starts, and I’m in one of my houses, I can explore the menus for a couple of minutes, then the game freezes again.
I just noticed this after installing the latest nvidia drivers (416.34), but the problem persists even with a rollback.
I can not play the game anymore. Immediately crashes to desktop, after pressing the continue button. Twice I got to the optimize for your computer screen. But then it also crashed. Updated to newest Nvidia drivers today. Reseting the app data did not resolve rhe issue. Very frustrating.
Same is happening to me. It was working fine when the game came out and I was able to play on PC last week. I saw other threads to turn off MSI Afterburner and other monitoring tools, but I don’t have any of those installed so I’m stuck.
for me this is day 3 of not being able to play the game… i have 2 days left for the return policy and im almost ready for a refund… love this game but this is ridicules.

Same here. I’ve noticed the game updated yesterday, since then I’m not able to play anymore. It freezes on the main menu (the continue, options, etc buttons menu).
Waiting for solution.

I payed this game 100€ and then the devs break it. Nice.
I had the same problem. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game worked for me. That said, the game is now taking up double the space than it should for me. I guess I need to uninstall it again and make sure everything is deleted before reinstalling it again.
On the support page they say go back to 399.xx (their new support site is broken in mysterious ways too. Kind of worrying that my ticket is #5652 )
I can safely say that will not solve anything.

0xc0000005 = access violation and there is nothing you can do about it, ignore any advice that google searches give you, it’s all rubbish.

There are 2 major bugs :
The first one is crash to desktop after pressing continue. Reinstalling the game solve the issue.
The second one is a freeze after the first loading screen (see the first post of “c4pit4nc4rd074”.)
To resolve this one I set down the “rear view mirror” graphic option from extreme to ultra. After few test i have no more freeze so far…
I already reinstalled the game on release day, since it crashed directly after launching the game, then after the first update this happened again and I fixed it with reinstalling and now after another update it crashes after pressing the continue button and I have to reinstall it again. Wow.
Same here for a couple of days now. As soon as I press continue after starting the game…crash to desktop. Installing a random application from the store did not help, like suggested.
Not so cool.
So i had same problem too. Reinstalling the game worked for me. You should delete Horizon 4 from your app list then get access to WindowsApp folder in your C drive and delete Microsoft.SunriseBaseGame… that weights around 30gb.
Reinstall fixed it for me too.
Reinstall fix this problem. Befor this bug i was level 160 I can play again but I’m level 10 
I think ima wait for a fix. Lots of people are saying the performance became horrible after this last update that broke our game. Why are they doing this? The game was so smooth at launch. Almost everything on ultra, butter smooth. I’ve noticed before this last update, the other updates messed a little bit with the game performance also.
Waiting for a fix too.
My internet connection is not so good, don’t want to reinstall it completely.
Besides this didn’t fix the crashes for everyone. And some people lost their save in the operation.
Patch soon hopefully.
