Noticing in career mode where there is a quick switchback (last chicane at Nürburgring GP) on controller. Left thumb stick to moving from left limit to right limit, the steering wheel displayed in the car goes from full turn left to straight and car heads straight (while on pavement/track, no brakes applied)
Tried adjusting the return to center setting, doesn’t help.
Thinking the AI gets the same bug as they head straight off track in odd areas.
Im having a problem similarly when using a controller. My steering input is reduced to almost nothing or very little even with deadzones set and simulation steering selected. Trying to reduce speed to make a corner but the steering input lessens and lessens untill i come to a complete stop.
bump for visibility
I forgot to save the replay and I didnt think to use the screenshot tool, but I took a photo of the telemetry as I was making the last left hander on laguna. the steering input is indicating Im turning right, but in reality I am inputing full left.
strangely when I cycled back and forth in the replay the steering input indicated stopped showing the left input and instead showed similarly to the displayed steering wheel.
funky input
Hi! I have same this bug, but not only on the Nürburgring GP track, randomly have on any track! I attached my Xbox controller with a wire on PC, and better the steering, so until the developers do not fix this bug, I use my controller wired!
FM seems to have a really inconsistent steering when driven with Xbox controller.
Steering speed varies greatly between different driving situations / cars. On some situations steering is sluggish to react when approaching a corner while other times steering is so fast it leads to cutting a corner.
The game also limits maximum allowed steering angle to the point where a slightest loss of grip / understeer may result going off track due to insufficient steering angle. When the grip starts to return, there’s also a noticeable delay before more steering angle is allowed.
For anybody trying to re-create the issue, I’ve run into it the most at Suzuka (Full track variant) at the hairpin (turn 11). There’s likely a handful of corners on other tracks in the game where this issue might crop up, I’ll update this post if I run into them.
*It’s not the fault of the corners though, it’s what the OP is referring to
**Also playing on controller, Series X
Also Lime Rock turn 3 & 4 combination brings up the problems on some cars with steering going from slow to overly quick on initial turn in to mid corner understeer due to steering angle.
Wich controller? For the elite 2 change the sensitivity curve for the sticks in accessories app.
Set it to smooth it doesnt work with out of box settings
I have Xbox Series S / basic Series S controller so it doesn’t have such settings. In my opinion it would be nice if these settings would be included in the game, not controller settings since as far as I know they also affect to other games in the console.
That said, while steering speed / sensitivity and linearity settings would be a highly appreciated and useful additions to this game and even might somewhat help to deal with these issues, the problem is not steering sensitivity itself but something in the steering logic of the game which seems to change steering behaviour depending on the current driving situation.
I don’t know does this help pinpointing the problem but I share this anyway because I think it may be related to this cornering problem.
I usually drive with normal steering but this “steering weirdness” happens also with sim steering.
Mine was looking ok after update 4 & was unplayable after update 3, now suddenly my game is unplayable again because of this issue. You heard anything back off them? I also have a video from outside the car of the wheels straightening up mid corner when I am full lock but I can’t upload
@Fuzzy_Belvedere thanks for sharing the video.
I have never been able to capture the steering wheel position or telemetry steering angle on video when this happens but knew something weird is happening with the steering.

Any videos of this happening?
It would be interesting to know does this happen with all cars sometimes or is this a car specific issue?
It seems at least Golf and TT RS does this.
I think these might be related to this steering issue:
I have just noticed this on suzuka but more after the patch. Feb one. I’m sure I’ve never felt this before. Especially on SIM steering.
I’m sure this is a new thing from recent patch. Ive never noticed it and certainly would of done on SIM steering setting.
It’s not a new thing really, see the date on the tweet. Or is it Xeet now, I don’t know…
But it’s interesting why some experienced this way back then and others now(?).
For me it is I haven’t experienced this since the patch
To add to this issue. I’m not sure but I think I’ve noticed it worse in the new c8 corvette. It’s like SIM steering doesn’t work as it should.
However I just tried the guila and the SIM steering acts like it should.
So I’m not sure if this is a bug with that vette or a one off bug, I happened to of experienced in that car.
On a separate note, can anyone notice a difference between SIM and normal on a pad?
I assume there isn’t much difference with this issue since you are experiencing it with sim steering and I use normal steering and have still experienced the same thing. I know the “donut bug” is the same with both normal and sim steering.
