Contests and Gift Car/Credits Index for FM5
This thread will be updated to point users toward opportunities to grab in-game gifts and to participate in Forza 5 related contests and sweepstakes with other prizes. See also my calendar of contests and FM5-related events at bit.ly/Forza5calendar
There are no unicorn cars in FM5, but Turn 10 has stated that there will be gift cars. In December, Turn 10 sent holiday-livery gift cars to both standard and VIP players. Purchasing DLC does not automatically add the cars to your garage - the cars are added to the Buy Cars roster where each DLC car model is free once - after that, credits or tokens are required to buy them for your My Cars list. You can also find opportunities to earn game credits by participating in News Discussion threads, Photo and Livery Contests, and by taking advantage of Forza Rewards.
Notes on receiving gifts, and troubleshooting
Gift cars (and credits) are sent to the game Message Center and must be downloaded (Press A on the Gift message) before they will appear in your My Cars collection. Credits awarded for Drivatar/Design/Tuning use are listed under Daily Payouts and are added to your account automatically. If you have not received a gift car you feel should have been sent, the best place to report the issue is by emailing forzafb@microsoft.com; also look for an existing thread on the issue and report your full details there.

Gift car for Limited Edition owners:
In the 11-27-13 Week In Review, Turn 10 announced that owners who had installed the Bonus Content DLC included in the Limited Edition package would be able to select one free car from the non-DLC roster via a special redemption link. This free car can only be redeemed once, and will not be replaced if lost, so choose wisely. The longterm availability of this link for late LE buyers is unknown - see this thread for discussion. Limited Edition ownership is currently only available via retail package and is not available for digital purchase from the Xbox Store.
Gift cars for VIP owners:
- Lotus E21: Per the 11-27-13 Week In Review, VIP owners (either included in the LE package, or purchased as DLC from the Xbox Store) receive a free Lotus E1 grand prix car. It’s unknown how long this offer will be available, but anecdotally it seemed like players who purchased the VIP DLC in December received the car.

Forza Rewards
https://rewards.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/
Forza Rewards is a loyalty reward program based on your history with the Forza franchise. Your gamertag’s history of play in Forza 2, Forza 3, Forza 4, Forza Horizon, and Forza 5 is automatically reviewed to give you points toward a Tier. Each month, go to the Rewards page to redeem that month’s rewards based on your Tier, which are typically credits and may include cars or tokens. Rewards change each month, so be sure to redeem them each month or you’ll miss out on the previous rewards. If you level up your Tier, you can go back and redeem the next tier’s rewards. You must go to your Message Center and press A on the Gift message to download these cars or credits. See the Forza Rewards FAQ for a list of previous rewards by tier and month.
Game With Dev events
GWD (or Game Night) events invite players to race against T10 developers in FM5’s multiplayer hoppers. Those who get into a lobby and compete with a dev should see a Title unlock, and may receive a credit gift. GWD uses the Twitch.tv chat room to announce their lobby location, and in past events they’ve even dropped FM5 DLC codes there for the fastest person to redeem them.
Dates: Feb 5 | Feb 21
Gameplay reward credits:
- Racing bonuses: Payouts for racing in FM5 are generally determined by distance driven and finish position, regardless of car class, and by special Career event types. You can dramatically increase these payouts with bonus factors by removing driving assists and increasing Drivatar difficulty in the menus prior to each race.
- Driver Level: Each time you increase your Driver Level you’ll receive a 35,000 credit reward. VIPs receive 70,000 credits per level.
- Drivatar Rewards: After you set up your Drivatar, it will appear in Career races against other community members and earn you credits. Look at your Message Center each day to see how much your Drivatar has earned (generally a few thousand to mid teens per day). These credits are automatically deposited to your account despite the message’s indication that they must be downloaded.
- Design/Tuning Rewards: Create a design or tuning setup and share them with the community, and if enough players use them, you’ll receive reward credits on a daily basis. Check your Message Center for message about these rewards. These credits are automatically deposited to your account despite the message’s indication that they must be downloaded.
Photo, Livery and Community Run Contests:
Look for threads in the Community Events forum. Be sure to meet all the eligibility requirements and deadlines for your chance to win. Winners receive credits and have their work featured in the game, which will lead to more use, titles, and rewards. Some special community run contests may even offer DLC codes as prizes.
