The April update for Forza Motorsport 7 arrives today, bringing brand new features, fixes and improvements based on community feedback, and a new collection of vehicles to the game. The update will roll out today beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific. Here’s a rundown of the highlights.
With the Forza Racing Championship (ForzaRC) 2018 season now in full swing, today’s update for Forza Motorsport 7 brings our new Race Telemetry feature to multiplayer’s Spectate mode, giving broadcasters the opportunity to dive deeper into the racing action, and allowing viewers to understand more of what’s happening across the entire race. In addition to trying it for yourself starting today, you’ll be able to see the new Race Telemetry feature in action on with our next ForzaRC Wednesday Showdown broadcast on the Forza Racing Championship Web site on Wednesday, April 25, starting at 12 p.m. (European region) and 6 p.m. Pacific (North American region).
This month’s update introduces the ability for players to test drive cars in multiplayer lobbies, one of the most requested features from the Forza community. Other notable improvements include allowing Fanatec analog handbrakes to work with the Xbox One version of Forza Motorsport 7, as well as a fix that makes Ghost cars viewable in Rivals events. We’ve also fixed problematic curbs for a number of tracks throughout the game, improved our band-promotion messaging in Leagues, and made a number of additional smaller improvements to the game. You can find the full list of fixes and improvements in the April Update Release Notes on the Forza forums thread.
Race Telemetry
Whether you’re a broadcaster or a viewer, Forza Motorsport 7’s new Race Telemetry option gives everyone the chance to be closer to the action on the track. When spectating a race, players can choose to engage a new “Race Info” panel, which lives in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. This panel includes a map of the current track, as well as information of where all players are on the track (represented by numbered and colored dots). Race spectators can zoom in or out of this track map to get closer look of where each competitor is.
Spectators using the “Race Info” panel can also bring up additional race statistics with a press of a button, including information on the current leader, as well as the player with the fastest lap time and the highest top speed. While this “Race Info” panel defaults to “on” at the start of a race, it can be toggled “on” or “off” at any time by the spectator.
Multiplayer Test Drive
One of the most requested featured from the Forza Community has been the ability to test drive cars in multiplayer, and we’re happy to say that feature is part of our April Update. Starting today, when you enter a Multiplayer lobby, you can spend your time test-driving your car on the track while the current race plays out, instead of merely waiting for the race to end. Players who choose to Test Drive will be alone on the track by themselves while the multiplayer lobby race is happening. Once the race ends, all players – including those in Test Drive – will be automatically pulled back into the lobby to prepare for the next race.

Update Notes in the Tech Support forum:
April 10, 2018
Today we released the April update for Forza Motorsport 7, which includes new features like the ability to test drive cars in multiplayer lobbies, as well as our new Race Telemetry panel in Spectate mode. For more on these features, check out our April Update announcement story on FM.net . In addition, we’ve made numerous improvements and bug fixes to the game, including the following:
PC
Fixed an issue where PC players were running into an extensive hitch in performance every time they used Alt-Tab to return to the game.
Fixed an issue where game would hard lock after tabbing out from multiplayer Spectate to the race lobby.
Particles will no longer clip into the ground when DRS “Particle Resolution” is set to “Full.”
Corrected mouse control behavior when using the Spectate Ticker and Telemetry functions.
Fixed an issue where some PC players were encountering black screens in between MP races.
Cars
Fixed an issue with the 1972 Land Rover Series III where the front tires were missing turning animation.
Fixed an issue with the 1997 Honda Civic Type R where the driver’s hands clipped through the steering wheel while in neutral position.
Corrected the position of the air vent in the cockpit for the 2016 Audi #17 Rotek Racing TT RS.
Fixed an issue with the 1983 Jaguar #44 Group 44 XJR-5 where the manufacturer livery on the sides of the car clipped with the vehicle’s body when damaged.
Fixed an issue with the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, where the aftermarket Forza rear wing would clip through the supports around the tire.
Fixed an issue with the 2011 Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione F458, where the right side door livery was mirrored from the left side door during races.
Reduced darkness of windscreen for the 1976 Brabham #8 Motor Racing Development BT45B.
Tracks
Fixed issues for inside apex curbs that caused players to unrealistically slow down. These fixes affect the following tracks: LeMans, Hockenheim, Monza, and Circuit of the Americas.
Livery Editor
Fixed an issue where livery decals applied to one side of the 2016 Ariel Nomad were duplicated to the interior and the opposite side of the vehicle.
Multiplayer
Improved general menu performance when entering a public race in progress.
Fixed an issue where a private lobby host would be moved to the back of the grid before entering the “verify the grid” screen.
Fixed an issue where some players in a lobby would not load to the next track and would miss the race.
Ticker feature that are time based now use the “00:00:00” format.
Fixed an issue where, in a private lobby, if the host set Weather Type to “Rain”, the lobby would switch to “Partly Cloudy” conditions.
Players can no longer “ready up” during Verify Grid screen.
Removed Collection Tier icon on opponent label Gamertags from multiplayer and Spectate.
Fixed an issue where elements of the Car Info Spectate Telemetry UI were persisting between instances of Spectating during a single race.
UI
Fixed an issue where UI would be blocked by a car during map load between races.
Accessories
The analog handbrake for Fanatec wheels will now work with the console versions of Forza 7.

The April update for #Forza7 , originally due for release on Tues, has been delayed due to a late-breaking issue that was discovered before launch. While we hope to launch the update next week, we don’t yet have a firm timetable for launch. As always, thank you for your patience.

So, even thursday isn’t on the table anymore?
Kinda sucks but I guess these things happen.

No worries, folks. This is probably source-code’s revenge (LOL) for the February CU being released a few days earlier than initially planned (T10 said Februarry would be released Feb. 19th, but was moved up to the 15th due to that weekend being a holiday weekend <President’s Day was Feb 19th>)
Just as long as the CU releases this week, i’ll be a happy man!

And here I thought that was a cheeky hint at an aquatic expansion.

Is it too late for me to add Lotus Esprit S1 to the Car Pack Clue thread?

It’s just a spur-of-the-moment way of saying the code isn’t ready due to a possible legal issue or a late breaking bug!

Typically the car pack requires the update (the update is actually the car pack plus fixes, you don’t download individual packs anymore). So yes, that is delayed as well.
At least turn ten or Microsoft found a issue and that has cause a short delay if Turn 10 is aiming for later this week.
Yeah well I am glad that they found the big rather than I would when I open the game next time
yeah i glad they found this problem today rather than tommmorroowww lol
You can’t help but smile… it’s starting to look like the new Forza 7 “tag line”.
FORZA MOTORSPORT 7
“thank you for your patience”
But hey, it could be worse… they could be delaying the car pack too.

The car pack is being delayed as well, it won’t work without the update.
Well, seeing as how I thought last month’s car pack was the last one… This one has turned out to be a “pleasant surprise”. Well, not just yet…
I thought last pack was the last. But I can accept this one too. And maybe if I am brave I could ask little bit help in those menus. No more lag? Plz?
Why would you think March was the last car pack? Lol. Car pass is for 6 months, started in November. April is the last of the car pass packs, but there will continue to be monthly car packs from May onwards.

Didn’t we receive a car pack at launch? I thought is was the F&F pack… I guess I was counting that as the first of the 6 month car pass. What kind of car packs will be available moving forward? I’m assuming those will need to be purchased? DLC?
That was the Day One Car Pack. To my memory, those have never been included in the Car Pass.
