THIS ONE OF ALL NEEDS MORE VOTES
MY GOD YESSS WE NEED THIS FEATURE BACK
I absolutely agree! This would be amazing to have individual selectable drivatars in the game
In freeplay mode, there should be a straightforward option to choose exactly what cars your opponents drive, even including vehicles from your own garage. This would allow players to race against any cars they want, instead of a random assortment of cars from the same class. This option also existed at one point in FM1 and FM4.
It was in FM2, but only in System Link mode.
This needs to be in Free Play, and in a similar manner to Assetto Corsa and Gran Turismo 7 where you can also even rename your opponents (just donāt name them after horrible people).
In GT7, Iād often do head-to-head custom races where I would name the opponent after my girlfriend.
@X99ZondaS It was the best feature ever in the Motorsport franchise. It would be a great thing to bring it back.
In FM1, you had the possibility to set up a custom race in drivatar training mode. After choosing the IA (easy/medium/hard/playerās drivatar), you had to select the car from your garage (like in GT7 custom races). ā That was so funny to compete against IA without brakesā¦
In FM2, you were able to set up private MP lobbies and to add IA you had to be in a specific lobby on which you cannot earn money at the end of the race. To choose the car, you selected the opponent and choose the car in the list (only location). Unlike FM3 & FM4, you could not select cars you didnāt unlock in arcade mode, DLC cars & unicorn cars.
FM3 & FM4 worked in the same way as FM2 but you had the possibility to choose the cars you want (location only) without unlocking them (except DLC & unicorn cars) and you earned money at the end of the race.
Sadly, this feature disappeared at the beginning of XBOX One era.
One more point I want to add is : Save the set up and the choice of the cars (Like in Gran Turismo 7) and re-use it in solo and in MP (if IA are brought back in MP).
To resume the entire feature :
- Choose opponents cars in custom races
- Location or personal cars
- Rename IA opponents name
- Save & load custom lobby with chosen cars
I think that this should be in FH5 as well.
Dang, it looks like someone beat me to the punch in posting this. But 100% I agree! Itās my most wanted feature by far & was the best thing about FM4, despite how limited the feature was back then.
Back in Forza Motorsport 4 and prior games when setting up custom online races, you could literally hand-select exactly what cars the AI opponents would race against you in, down to the factory paint job. This made for a massive increase in freedom to create whatever race you wanted, & it was genuinely endless fun despite the tiny number of opponents you could select back then. This feature needs to come back, & hereās why.
Selecting the AIās cars greatly increases the playerās creative freedom to make whatever race they want, anytime. From creating serious races like recreating real historical races with period-correct race cars or challenging yourself by doing a 1v1 against an AI in a considerably faster car, to more fun stuff like pitting every model year of Ferrari against one another, or pitting giant trucks to race against micro-cars, and my personal favorite: Pitting every car in the game from the same year against one another. So for example, a 1971-only race with an array of beautiful muscle cars romping past tiny Lotus Elans, or a 1983-only race featuring frumpy GMC Vans taking on Turbo Volvos & Audi rally icons.
This was truly endless fun with endless creative opportunities & nearly infinite replay value despite the original feature being so limited & the game being so old. Itās the only reason I still occasionally open up & play FM4. Itās an often forgotten feature but when people are reminded of it, they canāt believe how much fun they had with it, or more importantly why it wasnāt put in later games.
Hand-selecting the AIās cars desperately needs to be an option in this game, & should even extend to free-play races, not just online events. To make things even better though, the option to race against your own cars from within your own garage could further extend your creative freedom tremendously, allowing us to do everything from test our top-of-class cars against each other to see which is most competitive, to silly races between a field full of jelly suspension cars rolling & flipping at every corner. This would really open up the door to a nearly endless amount of things to do & should also be seriously considered.
If Forza Motorsport wants their player base to feel like they have the freedom to create whatever race they want, this simply needs to be added. Desperately trying to create workarounds with buckets, multi-class races &/or super specific car restrictions, then constantly loading & exiting races until the car list was acceptable was such a headache. Please donāt force us to have to do that anymore. As a long-time fan playing since Forza Motorsport 2, I trust that T10 wonāt disappoint!
In free running mode, I would like to let my customized car drive the AI car.
I think it would be more enjoyable as a painter if I could photograph my designed cars side by side as I do so.
Want this for tuning purposes especially for having special challanges set up like navigating a field of cadillac escalade in a golf
we need this in multiplayer private sessions as well
This would instantly make this game endlessly more enjoyable. Imagine the possibilities of races we could make? Itād be sweet if we could also save those setups and post them for the community to try out.
Iād also suggest Turn10 allow us true randomness as well, forcing individual AI to choose random cars from certain classes. Random in races is always good fun especially if knowing gets boring
Agreed! They literally used to have that section option you described & it was so fun! Buut it was clearly a bug so they patched it rather than fix things that actually matter.
-If you made a race with class options of 999 to 999, all the AI opponents car would be that class (obviously).
-Now, if you then tweaked the class restriction too 100 to 998 (or whatever specifics you wanted) ANY cars from those classes would spawn in!
I was racing F1 Cars against 60s Muscle cars against 80s Hot Hatches, it was SO sick! Havenāt played Forza since I realized they removed it
Iāve been trying to do that very painstakingly and with many limitations by using groups and restriction. It would be a lot easier if we could pick a whitelist of cars instead.
That would be so much fun. The freedom and creativity that would come to Forza Motorsport with this feature would be insane. I hope T10 devs see this post and will add it. Singleplayer would be so great with this. Especially choosing the ai cars liverys would allow insane creative possibilities like no other racing game
Voted and bumping. Being able to specify what cars and what builds the ai can use would really open up the sandbox nature of freeplay. Also, if you could do this for private multiplayer as well, it would make running private custom spec limited lobbies easier to manage as players would just get a screen with cars and exact builds available to them. Again this opens up private multiplayer possibilities as well.
Ok, thatās enough for me!
I mean, choosing the livery of each car is a great QoL feature! Each race can look like IMSA & WEC!
What?! Really?! Now this is next level of customization options!
Id really would like to choose cars from my garage to let the drivatars use
