Cars with interesting aero?

I thought that it might be interesting to start some kind of reference database of cars that are available with aero kits that are not the standard forza aero or nothing, something along the lines of this:

Peugeot 205 t16: rally/pikes peak front/back wings (non adjustable)

Lotus exige: front headlights

Toyota gt86: many aftermarket stuffs as well as forza aero

Also, if the non-standard aero is adjustable, that would be useful to know

1969 NISSAN FAIRLADY Z 432 - A large amount of rally headlights for the front bumper, and hood.

All the cars with active aero are interesting,i think.

VW Scirocco R has the Forza aero but also the VW Racing cup kit that is adjustable.

Like someone said before the 1969 Fairlady Z 432 has a lot of aero kits but unfortunately it also doesn’t have a full autovista mode so you can’t look at its engine.

Viper acr has stock adjustable aero, but no forza aero available.

They were the same thing in FM4,made no sense to buy the Forza aero.

The Z32 Nissan from the new pack has 3 almost complete bodykits from DOLUCK, STILLEN and WINGS WEST, you can check them out here (bottom):

Also has Forza Aero, VIS Sports carbon fibe bonnet and no rear spoiler options. Pretty cool.

22B has a fair few kits available but they are super 90s like the rim selection.

What confuses me is that the Rally/Group B bits for the Peugeot don’t provide downforce, and I would’ve expected them to.

Something that always bugged me in Forza 5 is that for most of the cars with active aerodynamics systems, such as the Lexus LFA and Lamborghini Aventador, the spoiler rises as usual at a set speed but then it goes back down when you go at a high speed. I can see why you would want that if you were on a straight away or something but it’s not like that in real life (is it?) and it bugs me lol

It goes back down because spoilers dont act as speed boosters. They work by keeping the car planted to the ground (usually during acceleration). They go down because the car is going fast enough where the spoiler would just act as extra drag.

Yeah, I figured that this is why they made it the way it is in Forza 5, that makes perfect sense! But it still irks me because it’s not accurate and in real life, to my knowledge anyway, the LFA’s and Aventador’s rear wings stay up, even at high speeds. And the Aventador’s wing has two stages but they still kept it as a one stage wing here like it was in Forza 4. Maybe I’m just nitpicking but the little inaccuracies like that bug me. :smiley:

There are at least two - may be more - distinct types of active aero on real world cars today.

One initiates at higher speeds to create downforce for better handling. Examples of this can be found on the Porsche 996 and 997 Turbos. The rear spoiler deploys at around 75 and then stays deployed until speed reduces to around 35. Laughingly, the owners manual warns against exceeding 75 if the spoiler deployment fails. I laughed at the thought of a Porsche having issues at 75 without a spoiler as it was being passed by a soccer mom in minivan cruising at 90+.

The Second initiates under heaving braking and is actually an aero-brake. I am not as familiar from experience with any of these as I am the active aero downforce - so I cannot give you the specifics on the circumstances that trigger the aero-brake to deploy and retract. The Mercedes SLR among others has this type active aero.

Speaking of active aero - - - Next time you catch a Space Shuttle Orbiter landing video, notice the trailing edge of the vertical stabilizer. Both sides flare out to serve as a very efficient Aero-Brake. No reverse thrusters just aero surfaces and gear brakes.

The 1998 Eagle Talon TSi Turbo has a lot of aero kits.
