Cars that you want to like, but can't

A 2023 Nissan Z. I was excited when I saw that this Nissan Z was added to FH5 in February this year, but I was disappointed when I found out that a 2023 Nissan Z doesn’t have any visual customizations in Forza Horizon 5. Yep, the lack of visual customizations for a 2023 Nissan Z is the reason why I refuse to drive it in FH5. :unamused:

Just came here to echo OP’s opinion of the Shelby. Really sucks that it can’t be competitive, because I absolutely love that car and on paper it seems like it could be fantastic.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It has a great design, but it is far too heavy and prone to understeer to be of any good fun while stock.

All wheel steering is in the game. Upgrading or changing the suspension on a car will delete all wheel steering. Some select cars come stock with both all wheel steering and tunable suspension.

You can get more details about this and other features in this thread: Little known facts about the game

Apollo IN-TENSIA-EMOOOOOOOOSIOOOOOOOOOON
(Yes I must always say it in the corny wrestler dialog.)

ugly as sin, and has the dumbest name I’ve ever heard for car and I haven’t even heard of it before this game… I simply don’t get why it’s here or what anyone sees in it.

The Warthog. I know it’s not a real car but it would be fun if it was actually useful in a race in the harder difficulty.
Now it’s only good for free roaming but if races need to be won, you’ll be better off with other offroaders.

Anything RWD on Dirt or CC.

I don’t play this game to chase a meta or only drive specific cars. I play it to fully enjoy the car list and the unique traits different vehicles being to the table. So asking me to convert a buggy or a classic rally car to AWD is counter to the entire reason why I play this game.

But while it’s possible to build and tune a RWD dirt or CC up to being “ok”, it’s never possible for them to be good, and with the way the AI cheats it’s never a good experience against them. You also can’t limit things like drivetrain or tire selection for the AI, so they always bring AWD converted builds with offroad tires. Although they are way overpowered for their PI cost, I hate using offroads on anything but offroad, partially because of how unrealistic they are (they should handle much worse when on tarmac) but also because of how much they change the feel of a car.

The most frustrating thing about this situation was that RWD was viable on dirt and CC in FH4. I don’t know what they changed, but in spite of RWD being relatively more powerful in tarmac, they made it worse on dirt and CC.

Did you read my mind @TheWarmWind76 ?

I was just about to post the GT70 and '67 Escort for that reason, and even if you make them AWD they are miles away from the quickest Classic Rally cars in B class as well as having lost a bulk of their character.

To be honest most car is in this game is at it’s best in classes they dont belong in, since i only drive my own tunes maybe its just me. But for example the best s1 dirt car i have is the mclaren senna. And the best s1 road car i have is the ferrari 599 that i tuned for dirt, but somehow it works best on road even with rally tires and offroad suspension.

Thought of another one. The MG XPower SVR. Such an odd ball car, you can’t help but want to like it, but it had awful handling, and the rev drop in sixth gear was atrocious.

@KnightOfRen8514 lots of new cars since this was last posted. Time to revisit.

Ferrari California: i guess I like it really it’s just the game doesn’t really give any opportunity to us it. And I bring that car up to say this;

The Fiat Spyders, old and new: same deal, I love the cars. The game just doesn’t give me chances to fully enjoy them

I know the post title said “want to like, but can’t” and not “want to love, but only like a little bit” but screw it here goes

  • 911 Singer DLS - It’s got everything I love about old 911s, with a slight touch of modernity. Plus (IMO) it’s got one of the few flat-6 engines in the game whose sound I actually like (the 4.0L F6 in the 997 GT3 RS and the new one in the 992 GT3 are the others). But, it’s hard to tune right, it understeers like crazy without front aero (which I REFUSE to use out of principle), and you can’t take it to top of S1 without an engine swap. Downgrading to A800 is an option, sure, but your options are either even worse understeer (drag tires) or very sloppy driving feel (snow tires).

  • '23 Corvette Z06 - sigh. This could’ve been great, ya know? It was decent in Motorsport, and I was excited when they revealed it as the 20pt reward for the Wet season (probably more than others, as I was waiting for it to be added since GM showed it to the world.) All that excitement went away when they drove it in the livestream. Thought I was hearing things at first, but nope! they absolutely MANGLED the LT6 sound. Plus, you can’t give it the E-Ray’s stock parts or tune its stock aero. You know, the same splitter and wing that was tuneable on the E-Ray? Just a lot of baffling choices made with this car. The proper sound (or close to it) was in Motorsport. Of all the cars added this year this one was one I was excited for the most, and I really want to love it, but with all these issues I just think “it’s fine, I guess”. They could’ve done worse, but they could’ve done a LOT better.

It’s a real shame what they did with the Z06, could’ve been an amazing car. It’s also just very weird that we have these issues considering Motorsport seems to have gotten it right.

I like it for cruising but almost all SuperGTs in this game are pretty terrible for competitive racing.

P.S - I want the old California back, the one we had in FH2 and FH3. With the working convertible top. That car reminds me of TDU2, love that game.

There are more than a hand full of Tours where you can use them. First the “Anything Goes” ones of course but there are also more specific ones like “Ferrari”, “Italian Automotive”, “Open Top”, “Modern Sport Cars”, “Low Budget” and so on.

I’ve four differently classed old Spyders that I regularly use. The B700 is one of my go-to cars for the respective “Low Budget” Tour for example while the new one is my go-to for A class “Modern Sport Cars” at the moment.

The Ferrari California is actually one of my favorite Ferraris ever (though I’m more partial to the appearance of the non-T version). But like you, I honestly just never use it in-game. Not because it’s bad, but because I’ve don’t think I’ve ever felt the need to use it.

When it comes to the new Spider, I honestly just default to the Miata since it’s lighter. As for the old Spider, I wish they’d quit readding the anemic version and add the Abarth-tuned homologation special instead.

@Runoff1999 , you missed my point but that’s my fault for not being clear. The California I was referring to was the 250 GT. The older one.

I was also thinking you ment the new one but the 250 can also be used in some of the Tours.

Tours? With who? I have my music turned off. Is Pink Floyd coming to FH5?

You just made me spit out my drink with that comment.

I believe he is referring to Horizon Tours, though. Online racing mode that’s formatted like the Trials. A team of players against the AI. More chill and casual racing experience than Open for the most part.

Yes, and often “themed”. Which is one of the main reasons for me because it narrows down the car selection and at least partially keeps the “meta” away.
