In the newest Forza Motorsport, almost all NSX NA2 Colours are inaccurate. While they’ve never been exactly on point, in previous Forzas they at least mostly resembled the real colours, while in FM most of them have the wrong shade and texture.
While making this report I also found out just how difficult it is to find footage of some of these colours, it’s actually painful at times.
Platinum White Pearl is too dark and is too beige
Monza Red Pearl is wrong. It’s an incorrect shade of red and lacks the pearl finish.
New Formula Red is too bright.
New Imola Orange Pearl is completely wrong. It’s an incorrect shade of orange and lacks the pearl finish
New Indy Yellow Pearl is wrong. It’s the wrong shade of yellow and lacks the pearl finish
Lime Green Metallic is completely wrong. It’s a different shade of green and it isn’t metallic at all
Long Beach Blue Pearl is completely wrong. Incorrect shade of blue and it’s not even pearl
Sebring Silver Metallic is too dark, making the difference between itself and Silverstone Metallic almost negligible.
Silverstone Metallic lacks that slightly blue-ish metallic effect.
Still inaccurate in Update 20!

I have been sent these two images. The first one is a graph showing colour availability on the USDM Acura NSX throughout the whole NA1 and NA2 run. The second one is taken from a Japanese NSX-R NA2 brochure, likely from 2002, and shows all colours available for that car in that model year.
Only Championship White in Forza Motorsport is accurate, and it’s the default colour. The rest is inaccurate to varying extents but the premium pearl colours are offensively bad. I don’t understand how they were even allowed by Honda.

They gave a big middle section phalange to Hondas in general in this FM. Their attention to detail is…well extremely lacking when it comes to Hondas. It’s a shame really.

The game’s actual lighting model is totally broken since day one. It’s nothing specific to one particular manufacturer color etc. The engine’s PBR materials have a totally broken energy conservation implementation & fresnel fallout.

I get that, but I notice Hondas just being treated badly in this game overall. Not just paint. I have my own post about that though.

Exactly. Every other Japanese manufacturer has gotten at least a few new cars within the past few years, but the last new Honda we got was the FK8 Civic Type R, which was 7 years ago…

Which we had since FM7, and in this FM, a launch car. Then the FK8 having a LOT of bad inaccuracies in this FM.
