Interesting that, if you run at top of R class, the AI will have Nissan R382s at over 880 PI, despite the fact it’s only possible to build it to 851 so far as I can see. I wonder what they do to bump up the PI in that way.
Did you try and look at the AI’s telemetry when that happens? We used to be able to do that in FM7…
I wonder if it’s a HP bump or something else…
Looks like they run about 30hp more than it’s possible to have in the Nissan.
Anyway, I’ve probably exhausted my testing of these cars for now. The McLaren M8B, Chapparal and Lola are all very competitive cars at R900, although the Chap can only reach 895. All five cars were fun to try. An easier event than last week though, which I thought had very competitive AI.
You should try the Nissan R382 on sport tires detuned to S800.
It’s one of the strongest sport tires builds - if not the best one outside of engine-glitched ones.
On some tracks it’s faster than the 911 GT1 on softs.
The tire compound these cars start with are sport tires but with increased tire wear. For SP they are better than sports due to less PI but in MP they have wear on the level of softs. Thus, they don’t last a whole race.
MP build should use sports.
What courses do we think we will get for the 60s Formula 1 event? Maybe:
Kyalami
Silverstone
Watkins Glen
Nordschleife?
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is…lol. I’m betting at least 1 fictional track (Hakone) will be in the mix, and it will probably be in the rain…
Ha - neither Featured Tour so far this month has had rain. Either it’s a conscious decision not to have any for these race car events or we are definitely getting some for this one!
My choice…
2/4. No Nord sadly which would have been ideal but Brands Hatch and Spa instead. Full list is:
Brands Hatch
Spa
Silverstone National
Watkins Glen
No rain in the races either, not sure about practice.
The Glen makes sense. They started racing there in '61 and ran there all the way to '80.
But at least they were all F1 tracks at some point, though Silverstone should be the bigger layout.
Yes, I’ve enjoyed all the events so far this month. The dusk race at BH in this one is particularly fun.
As I am running these cars at S800, it’s a bit of a shame that the AI doesn’t match that PI until the last race when the restriction goes up to R. I don’t really want to have to create a 770 build to make it fairer but, as it is, it feels like I have quite a big advantage in the first three races. My main issue is trying not to hit one of the AI when they brake too early for some reason.
They seem relatively competitive in terms of lap times for S800, with the Brabham, Honda and McLaren being my preference.
Best way for money? Can’t do the timelimited event only 167k money here and cars are >300k…
Brabham seems to be the best option for these events overall. Quite a big pace advantage on the AI even with their extra PI at Watkins. I can’t quite match that pace with the extra fuel in rivals but it’s relatively strong for S class.
I ran it with the Honda, had pretty much the same results. Though the Honda seemed to have a ton of straight line speed over the other cars, but that could just be the AI being…AI…
I think that’s just the AI. If you did it in an 800 build, every car I tried had a substantial speed advantage over the AI on the first three tracks and still some advantage on Watkins, despite the AI having slightly higher PI.
the cracks are starting to show literally including the seems the games short comings unfortunately
