I remember in FH2 I think it was where you could save a paint as a certain file at a certain point of customizing a car and it would show the customization in the storefront until they changed the rules and took away that option. As far as I know, given the wide body kit options and such that would change the paint a great deal, that you would have to allow the customization to show in the SF
Here’s my situation, I have some designs that a ton of work went into in the past that I would like to share but look pretty funny with stock rims, ride height, etc. and even though it’s a general expectation of everyone to only see that, I would like to know if I can get the customization of the design showing. I’ve seen several customized versions in other’s storefronts so I would really like to know if anyone knows how to do it and if they could message me how or tell me here. It would be much appreciated!
I really am leaning on just putting them in auctions only if I can’t figure this out but would like to be able to offer them up in the storefront as well.
It’s pretty much hit or miss as to whether you can save designs with all the mods, body parts, wheels, etc. showing. Been the same now in all Forza games since FM5 and T10 has never fixed this. No one on the boards here that I know of has ever found a consistent method that works when saving/sharing designs. Just last night I shared two designs using the exact same car with the exact same customizations. I followed the exact same steps both times that I shared the two designs. One now shows up with body kit and wheels installed that I installed. The other one doesn’t.
Oh, OK thanks for the reply … guess I’ll try a few times and if not, I’ll just make them exclusive to the Auction house.
Edit: I am pretty sure (I’ll have to look back and find it) that there was a method in FH2 but it did stop working shortly after the game was released altogether.
Oh, it turns out it was in FM5. I found the topic and here’s the link.

LOL, I must be losing it because I actually researched and tested this with a friend a while back.
I will go test this method tonight and let everyone know what happens.
So did you get hang of it? I’d also like to know a working method for this.
Sorry, I have a very busy life and haven’t really had a chance to post about this.
I did figure out a way that works every time…
- It’s simple, just make sure you customize the car first
- Then do something to the paint (doesn’t matter what)
- Then save only to the car NOT THE DESIGN CATALOG
- Then go into “my designs”, find the furthest one over to the left (should match the design that you just worked with)
-Then share that specific file (ONLY THE FURTHEST TO THE LEFT)
You can check to see if the customization is showing by immediately going into find designs for the same car and search with no criteria. If you did it right, all customization/tuning will show!
So far the only design I wasn’t able to get loaded with customization showing is a design that somehow got locked so I couldn’t modify it. Search RaceGameNut to see my storefront and you’ll
be able to verify what I’m saying is true.
Also, quick note…
If you are loading a previous Forza design, make sure it is unshared before you try to modify the design. If you can’t modify the design then most likely you won’t be able to get the customization
to show.
Hopefully this helps
As far as the auction house question from LuciferOfWater, I’m not sure what you are asking, can you clarify?
You’re spot on RaceGameNut, I made a Guide with screenshots last week after reading this and a few other threads and not seeing any definitive answers.
Keeping in mind you lose all associated data if you unshare a design, I’d recommend creating a duplicate to work with (see Guide). Curious to know what you meant by a design somehow getting locked and not being editable, where does it appear?
@RaceGameNut, This is a bit off topic but how to you sell designs for the auction house ? I have seen ppl sell it just have no idea how to do it.
If you want to see your car in selection screen with all your parts on,simply do all the work on the car,and when you finished, just load your design again…It will update car picture in car selection screen.Works in horizon 2,FM6,and maybe more.So basically, just remember that re loading of your design after all work is done, makes the car picture reload.Hope this helps
Edit: Also,if you do all above, then tune your car(suspension, camber etc) and then apply your design, the car picture will have the same stance as your car…
