I am a VIP member and on wristband 6, but I am unable to purchase any cars, what unlocks the feature?
Keep following the voiceover prompts to continue on Road Trips and complete championship events and the menu features will unlock with progress. Also see the stickied update about server issues at the top of this forum.

Well i got a more or less different issue. Installed the game and dlc for the full 100% before first launch.
played and played untill i could buy cars. But for some reason 2 cars that should be available, are NOT installed 
my xbox has been running nonstop for 1,5 days on horizon now, yet still it isnt installed, tried removing and re install the dlc but still didnt work.
Faulty copy of H2???
This seems ridiculous to me, I preordered so have the day one edition with the 3 DLC cars plus the extra one from the retailer. I’ve only just started playing it as I really wanted to get to Forza Rewards tier 4 before stating which I’ve done so presumably ill get these 3 cars too at some point. I tried to get the free car pack but get an error that says refer to code below but there is no code. I played the first 3 race event yet I still can’t get to all these free cars. I’ll also have about $400k in cash when my Rewards cash shows up.
How much more do I have to play before this unlocks?
Why not play the game, follow the directions from the Race Organizer and just “wait” a bit before asking? There were/are other threads from the last few hours where people literally have 100K cash, 1 car and wonder why they get stuffed with a “not so nice car” when they want to play online.
What’s wrong with doing an hour or 2 of solo play, see how it works, see what cars you like and then go about of doing other things?

I have been playing the game and think it’s great. It just seemed strange that with all the various promotions/articles around about the free cars you can get, that there is no indication within the game as to when you can access them. I’m assuming they did it to ensure you saw what different modes/activities were available in game.
Needless to say, I got some more time to play the game today and buying cars has now been unlocked and I have lots nice cars to take for a spin. The only car I don’t seem to have is the Subaru that you get for completing an event in the demo. I completed the event before I installed the game, is there anything I need to do to redeem this car? Can’t see anything in my messages like there was for the Forza Rewards bonus cars.

“Play some more time” is not the answer. I would like to know exactly what I had to do to be able to buy cars in game and to have “Social” tab unlocked. This forum is run by developer of the game, right? So the developer should have knowledge how requirements are exactly set for each option to unlock. At least someone at dev team. Why there is no official list of such requirements published?
I finished first 3 races in Casteleto. Just finished (6th/7th place), not won. Next challange is Showcase race with jets. I still can’t get any other car than BMW Z4, which was picked up by my friend when he visited me and wanted to try this game as well. I am thinking about resetting game saves (locally and on XBL) just to pick up other car, because this one makes me mad. I finished FH2 - F&F and maybe 1 or 2 cars were so frustrating for me as this Z4. If buying cars option is available in short (like after Showcase) then I am not going to delete the save, but if I have to go with that BMW for example another 6 events - then noe way, reset is a must. That’s why such knowledge (exact knowledge!) may be important and answers like “play more” are at least irrelevant if not simply stupid.

I have forgotten about this. So the cars started to be available for buying after the showcase with jets… I didn’t have to reset anything, somehow I managed to pass it with that [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] BMW.
