In other words:
There are a few cars I’d like, but I didn’t pay for the downloads. I’m afraid if I buy them using forza credits, I won’t be able to use it until I do the DLC. Which is probably correct, eh?
some cars you can buy a specific car from a DLC without buying the entire pack. In some cases, the entire pack is required to obtain some specific cars. These will be indicated by a “Pack Only” tag instead of a DLC tag. Also, there are some “DLC” cars that are free to purchase. I don’t remember which ones specifically, but if you go through the marketplace into the packs and look at all of the cars from the DLCs you’ll see the “DLC” tags that say “Free”.
In short - you need to own the DLC to be able to use the car, whether the DLC is free or not won’t matter (except to your wallet).

Your talking auction house right? I bought all the FM4 DLCs on release so I don’t know if it’s different, but in FM3 I tried buying cars from the auction house that I didn’t own the DLC for and the game would let me buy it and store it in my garage, I just couldn’t do anything with it (including sell it) until I bought the DLC. It worked the same way with gift cars that were DLC that I didn’t have.

In FM4 I am not sure you can even buy them in the AH if you don’t have the DLC.
