Biting The Bullet - Help Please!!

Usually i love to tune my own cars i find it fun, have done since i got into it on “Forza 4” for drifting i got it down for my style, what i cant grasp is a decent set up for my style for racing.

Is anyone willing to add me as a friend get in party chat and help me learn, understand what i need to know to start dominating rivals in better fashion.

I never used a tuning calculator for “Forza 4” but i did decide to purchase “Forza Tune 4” from Google Play, and tbh it looks like every tunes the same so i choose not to use it.

Plus it looks backwards to how i learned to TUNE cars in “Forza 4” rear ends being stiffer front being softer, i was always told front end stiffer helped with turn in softer for better traction on rear.

Ahhh what do i know thats why i am here asking for your help

P.S

I am aware that the “Forza Tune 4” is just a base set up its for you to tinker with - It does state so…
Also just to mention that yes this is forza 5 i am aware, but i figured the base must me similar to some degree and tweeking would solve certain problems.
Apparently not though…

there’s lots of good info here about tuning in the tuning thread. Including setups. You can’t generalize about “rear ends being stiffer, front being softer.” It varies by drive type and engine placement just to start. Spring pressure varies based on vehicle weight, weight distribution, downforce, ride height, etc. What I can tell you re: FM4 is that some tunes are close car vs car and some are way different. I’ve used Slave Munky’s excel tuner for F4 quite a bit and tried it in 5. One thing that stands out to me right away when comparing the tunes in cars that are in both games is that F5 needs more camber then F4. Spring pressures seem about equivalent, but sway bar tension, and damping are different, usually need higher values vs F4. Tire pressures are about the same I like operating temps to be 34 to 34.5 for me but tires do heat up quicker in F5 and lose grip faster. Hope that helps, good luck.

Thankyou for your input/info  i will be sure too look at that while in tune shop next when testing.

you really shouldn’t bite a bullet. it could go off and that would hurt pretty bad.
with regards to learning how to tune: read the tuning guide posted in the tuning forums. i used a similar guide in Forza 4 to go from absolutely clueless to an expert tuner in just a week or two. the key is tire temps and PSI.

Sorry but I’m new to this. I can’t figure out how to see tire temps or PSI while running. Are you just trying to make sure the tire indicator in the bottom right stays clear while running? I don’t see anything in the menus to toggle anything different to display.

To help me figure out some of this tuning voodoo I found an open source tune and tried the changes 1 step at a time. The Ford GT went from a little hard to control, to getting better, to getting worse, to getting really good. I tried following some of this on a LFA this morning, not copying the numbers but following the same pattern, and it worked out pretty well. I did it 1 step at a time and then had to go back to tweak it but this was all done by feel and lap times. I didn’t notice the tire display changing colors unless I was spinning out.

Thanks for the help.

telemetry can be turned on while driving by pushing “up” on the d-pad. info displayed is changed with “left” or “right” on the d-pad. info displayed is identified at the top of the screen.

Thank you!
