Personally my favs are the abatti racing ford f 100, the dodge ram runner, and the gmc syclone. Turning the diff settings down in the front, and giving them more rear bias (if using awd) helps alot, idk how many trucks if any you’ve drove IRL but 4wd trucks with locking diffs, don’t turn good. I usually run 55 to 65 percent accel and 35 to 45 decel on the rear and depending on the terrain I’ll put the front to 0 sometimes up to 10 or 15 on accel and decel. That way I have the benefits of the awd but the front differential can do its job, and differentiate power.
Cool, man. Thanks I do hot rod building and tuning as a job and as a hobby. Off-road tuning, however, isn’t something I’m completely familiar with. Engine wise, they’re somewhat comparable but in drivetrain, two totally separate worlds lol. Thanks again man for the info!
I don’t use V12 engine swaps. V10 either. Six or 8 banger works unless the car is already equipped with one of those.
I got one of these from the AH earlier today and I like it quite a bit. Versatile upgrade options and can actually turn like a pick-up should.
I agree that intended use can vary greatly which one is “the best”.
I really like the Titan but it turns like semi and has a couple of upgrade bugs. I like the R2 for the mountain but I find myself using the Rally Fighter more often to combat the snow.
Since not much interested me this time around, I didn’t buy this month’s car pack so I’ve yet to test the F-150 Trophy truck.
I use my Ram Runner and have had a lot of success with it. Turning can be a little ominus at times but with a little practice on awd drift I find I garner more speed and control as I go along.
What are heck are you doing with your tunes, dude? XD
I feel that truck handling is too good if anything. I and others have managed strong races in the midfield of asphalt and mixed surface championships with any of the F-150 Raptors. But whereas most others run engine swaps with adjustable suspensions and diffs, my '17 Raptor is stock apart from dirt racing tires, stage one weight reduction, and OEM engine upgrades. Been contemplating tossing the upgraded rubber for more power, as I think it’s the only thing that’s held me back from podiums. But as far as maneuvering the thing goes, I actually feel that it is more adjustable, albeit ultimately slower than my Volvo.
I’ve crossed paths with some vicious Ram Runners that actually look the part of off-roaders in multiplayer, one of which belongs to a club mate. Going to have to ask him about it someday.
I use my Raptor Race in A class and my Ram Runner in SI. Lower classes I play by ear. The biggest thing I find is the tuning. It is not like tuning a car, for example on alignment I usually run -1.9 front and -1.6 rear starting. Off Road I start it at a more neutral -1 and -.7. Also I saw someone mention differential, I find that has a big effect. Front diff I run usually about 20 - 25 accel and 0 decel. Rear 75 and 75. Balance about 60 - 75 depending on how the truck reacts. Tire pressure is also very critical. Experiment and see what works best for your driving style. One more thought I find that the short wheelbase trucks and SUVs usually are very skittish in the higher classes, A and higher.
Depending on class new f150, 2011 f150 f150he and the ranger t10 each has different characteristics depending cross country, mixed surface or playground. I have out run all but the f150 race truck
