Some may remember me from FM3 & 4 and some of you I am yet to have the pleasure of meeting (albeit virtually). I finally bought me an Xbox1 and now that I’ve torn myself away from Horizon I decided to get stuck into a paint in 5.
A little about me, I’m a 31 year old Londoner with an obsession for cars. I have been known to stay up til the wee hours just to watch NASCAR live on TV…pretty sure I’m actually American and just don’t know it.
So after spending way too much time painting non Japanese stuff in Horizon I decided to go “Super Jap” with this one.
Just a teaser at the moment, and loooooooooooooads left to do but hopefully this may whet the odd appetite. I wonder if anyone knows what car I’m replicating
I’m struggling to work out the top logo on the rear door pillar and the two top logo’s on the front wing behind the wheel but the rest is all coming along swimmingly
Ben, have you got any side on pics you can circle the required logos on mate?
Ive seen a few versions of the car just dont want to find the wrong ones! lol
Certainly mate. Hope you have a bit more luck than me. Though i will confess there are a few more than originally believed…
A) I can’t work out if these are one logo or two. The bottom character like thing (that I originally thought was something to do with Wakos) appears to have “Food City” written above it. Google has been very unkind to me on this though as I’ve found nothing. I have had a freehand stab at it though. What the top symbol is remains a mystery. It looks to be a broken circle with an off centre cross.
B) I have pics of the bottom logo’s but cant see the top two (or three)
C) I’m still working on finding the front two. Second one is something “wheels” but I haven’t had a proper hunt for these yet.
Of course not, you know me!!! It was not intentional…I actually thought I would be able to find more good photo’s of the car as Super Taikyu tends to be hugely papped.
This is exactly the same problem I’m having. The best pics I can find are on Garage Revolver’s Facebook page, but even they aren’t great.
I’m beginning to think that these are the reasons why nobody has painted this car yet.
Thought I’d give you guys a quick update on the progress…which has admitedly been a little slow (real life and all that jazz).
Main progress is on the rear bumper but a few logo’s done and more on the way. Need to do some layer trimming on the rear as I maxed it already (only another Wakos needed)
Yes. I hate to say it, but we, the painters, as we are, I guess are going to have to entertain ourselves until the teeming masses wander back this way, if they ever do… (more pictures)
That Food City thing is bizarre. Has to be asian (?), anyone know someone over in that part of the world that might recognize it? Defiantely not a NASCAR sponsored car…
How very true about entertaining ourselves whilst waiting for the horde to amass once again. It’s a real shame that it’s so quiet around here these days, and that we’ve lost so many awesome painters.
On the Food City thing, I’m not sure bizarre covers it haha. It’s the most random logo I’ve come across…and given my love of Japan that is really saying something.
So here we are, a few little updates, nothing major as progress has been slow due to the sheer number of logo’s I’m having to make. I didn’t realise that the left and right sides of the car aren’t mirror images logo-wise…there are 3 extra logo’s on the right side that don’t appear on the left. This livery gets more weird by the day
I completely reengineered the rear end. Managed to reduce my layer count by around 75% (I must have been really sloppy before). Only Heartful to go on here:
Added a few more logo’s to the front. Still Project Mu, Nissho Sangyo and Heartful to go on, plus two that I am yet to discover on the lower corners where the canards are:
Added a few of the wing logo’s, the emergency cutoff outline and a metal bar (that I have no idea of its purpose but it’s there on the real car). Yellowhat, Nissho Sangyo and Bulletproof to go on still:
Looking impressive Ben!
We are all nutcases simply put, spending hours painting logos for cars lol
But when its a challenge to replicate I find it massively rewarding, regardless of downloads. Its just cool to know I did that!
Front Cannard Logos…
Looks like ‘MUTA Racing’
Hidecks (http://www.hidecks.com/) Helmet Designers
Oh my!!! Looks like I already have project number two lined up then
Appreciate the compliments mate. There is no finer feeling than producing a replica that you can genuinely measure up against the real car, so I’m completely with you on not caring about downloads.
Cheers for the Hidecks too. It was bugging me…looks like a nice easy logo to make (want to cry)
