Australians unable to connect to league lobbies

Since launch we have had difficulty connecting to league lobbies and still nothing has been done.

Ghost league A: 2 people lodged a score
Community choice league: 4 people lodged a score
B class endurance: 7 people
S class ghost: 6 people

These are all pinnacle.
The chances of connecting to one of this few players is very low and we should NOT be preventing from joining lobbies from other regions.
Multiplayer lobbies connect just fine

I have just watched the leadboard gradually grow in the modern Gt league which was updating at less than 10 players, so its not full yet I’m unable to connect; must be region based decision.

Since launch the only league lobbies i have managed to connect to more than once was the when the lamborghini leagues where on and this was only because everybody was playing them…

PLEASE this would be easily be fixed if we were connected to an out of region lobby if no local one is found! (instead of giving up and displaying “Failed to find a game session”

Oh and please don’t even bother with the check your networks settings response; they are all fine and are not the issue here

Looks like the Australians and South Africans are in the same boat [for once] LOL.

This is really frustrating 100% agree.

Below is a message I posted back in April after my frustration in trying to get into the Lambo Super Trofeo leagues. I have not tried a league race since then and it looks like the same Australian issues are still there:

After yesterday’s failed efforts to get into races I thought I’d make a note of what it was like so far today:

Between 9.05 am and 10.05 am Queensland Australian time - Asia Pacific region.

Elite league:

Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Restarted X-Box
Joining lobby - plus one racer who backed out straight away
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Restarted X-Box
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - plus one racer who completed one race then backed out.

  • waited in lobby, two racers completed two more races before both backed out.
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
Joining lobby - failed to find game session
    Gave up

That how ridiculous it was this morning and I’ve never failed to get into a lobby so consistently before.

Is it possible for someone from Turn 10 to provide an address that people can use to trace conections using tracert at the command prompt?

Reason I ask is I am having issues with other games and whilst I have not confirmed the exact cause the indications are similar to what happened when a major internet cable was severed and needed to be repaired twice. This cause a lot of Aussie connections to take suboptimal routes and some timed out when trying to connect to servers.

You’re highly unlikely to have T10 respond with such info, but i did some low level debugging many months ago and gleaned some info that is sorta what you’re after.

If you’re a tech head below is a snippet of stuff to use for trace and the like, the ones i marked with ** are probably the most useful for test purposes here:

Whilst jibberish to some, to others it should be enough if combined with wireshark to piece most of the puzzle together on how it all works… i’ll leave it at that since i’m sure some MS/T10 people would prefer the inner workings of matchmaking aren’t revealed too much but the bad news - latency to the servers plays a part and there is little that can be done from the Australian ISP side to improve it in terms of routing due to the interconnect points, it all lies on the MS cloud side and their own fabric wrapped around the world.

The real shame is that matchmaking worked beautifully for the first few weeks after launch and overnight became terrible with the November update. I gave up hope on T10 rectifying this in January and chalk it down as being an intended and unavoidable alteration as a result of other behind-the-scenes changes which occurred as part of the whole Win10 on Xbox evolution.

Weirdest thing of all, just a couple weeks ago (right before the nascar pack release) i swear there was a couple day period where matchmaking went back to how it was pre-Nov and was working beautifully, i’d consistently make it into 16+ league lobbies almost every time i tried. It was short lived though and am back to struggling to find league lobbies at all, let alone ones with decent numbers in them :frowning:

I’ve been meaning to crank up FM5 to see if it has similar issues these days, as i never had matchmaking woes with that… but alas i’m too lazy to find the disc

If im having issues with the connection i go into Internet setting and alternate mac address then clear the cache
The console will restart properly…not just on/off and i almost always get straight into a lobby

Yes I’m an Aussie
And been having bad connections since day 1 as well
Wish they would improve it somewhere

Hey don,t forget us New Zealanders.Saturday night absolutely no access to leagues. No problems with hoppers.Raced Abcs and R racing lobby.

Hi Good day

I am from south africa, and i cannot connect to any multi player modes, it says failed to to get a match? has anyone got something to try and see if they can help. we pay alot of money for these games so there should be a way.

Also, here is my earlier whinge on the topic… 5 months ago

http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst53001_Is-it-just-AU-or-all-non-US---non-UK-countries.aspx

I’m from Australia and spend my time wondering what the issue is instead of playing. When it does work it’s great. But when it doesn’t it’s usesless.

Hello,

Still experiencing problems from Australia. Is anybody monitoring this?

So it is still happening

I just moved house in the past 10 days and have not had 1 issue connecting
Have been able to get into lobbies first go every time

Probably just jinxed myself now though

Are you now a lot closer to your exchange?
Might surgest the matchmatching criteria is ping rather than region based

totally different area , not sure if closer to exchange

but it is ping based …to the microsoft servers in the US…so it is region based

Here in New Zealand I have been having problems again all week. I agree with AZ comments when it works it is good but when it does not it’s useless . So I decided today to do some investigating regarding my settings. I checked my connection settings and got the message that my settings were all good and that the problem was that Xbox had issues and to go to Xbox Support. I find it totally frustrating that you get a great start in a league and then because of c-----p connection issue the nett result sucks.
I know we are not in one of the fifty two states but we have paid our money and should be given equal consideration. I am sure it would be able to dedicate a server to South Africa Austrailia and New Zealand players.

Hello,

Is anybody from T10 able to assist?

Bumping cause turn 10 still havn’t acknowledged. When are you going to fix this?

Have we established yet whether it is a Turn 10 issue, Xbox Live issue or connection issue.

And sorry but connection issues are more than NAT and speedtests.

Whilst I still do not know what IP address to run a trace route to for the Forza game servers a trace route will show a lot more issues that are sort of your ISPs issues or stuff happening elsewhere in the world.

I was blaming the developers for another game I play but the problem was actually the gymnastics my connection did whilst in HK before finally heading over to the game servers.

multiplayer matching seems to be more open to more out of region based players, i always connect to a game and most often are people from around the world. League lobbies i only connect to australians, which most of the time is 1 other person which has to be searching for a game at the same time.

The figures speak for themselves theres never more than 10 people which lodge a score in asia pacific.

I also have 2 internet connections to my house. 1 is a landline the other NBN. Same issue on both. Even tried different routers. My routers are configured correctly thanks to my level of knowledge of comunication systems and networking in general.

As i said in the post people who are blaming an individuals connection can gtfo. This is a matchmaking algorithm which is wrong in connecting to only those in your region.
