Audio Issues When Using Headset?

Hi,

Just bought a HyperX Cloud 2 headset
&
I’ve found that when playing forza 6 the audio cuts out & crackles, but the issue seems to be only with Forza 6…
. ( I pretty much just play BF4 & Forza).

I have also found that my headset is a lot quieter when playing Forza 6 vs other games & you can hardly hear the car’s backfire …seems like the audio is muffled.
… ( I have to go to headset settings & turn the volume up just to two clicks under max volume… how high do you all have your volume setting???)

Just curious if anyone else is having the same issues or has any advice for resolving the issue.

Thanks!

Edit: I play on XBOX ONE & my headset is connected directly to the controller which is the newer model with 3.5mm headphone jack

My headset does the same thing. I’ve also experienced ( on other consoles as well) audio issues with Forza on normal out puts. Only fix is to reboot the console. IMO it’s an audio glitch.

Thanks for the response! I’m kinda thinking the xbox one controller could have somthing to do with it?

Also I just fired up my tv volume without my headset & for some really weird reason everything sounds a lot quieter & lack luster… was there an update that muffled the sounds ?? I’ve tried the. TV setting & Headphones & no difference… I haven’t played for a while & just started playing again the other night & I’m really bummed it make the game a poop chute to play : *(

Very frustrating I know. First time I experienced was on my bros console through a sound bar. We thought the sound bar had faults. After a reboot of the Xbox it was fine. My headset does it regularly. Makes it impossible to drive/ play when it happens. Only does it on Forza for me.

i use turtle beach xo sevens and with forza and project cars i have to have the usb plug and play lead connected or i get sound drop outs and crackling, i think its due to theres more sound and vibrations in racing games and takes more power out of the batteries

Hmm I’ll have to see if the cloud 2’s have an option like that, thanks for the input!

Also, I would imagine your right about a game like forza requiring a lot of power to produce it’s sounds properly.

maybe the headset isn’t getting suffiecent power from the controller to run sound from somthing like forza?
I think BF4 is pretty intense in the sound department too & it seems to work just fine…weird…

It’s looks like driver/hardware problems. Restarting helps to eliminate the issues. Also booting from energy saving mode helps.

This seems likely or some kind of a memory issue because rebooting fixes it. I noticed crackling starts on some large tracks like Rio full after many laps and when you use rewind. After rewinding the crackling starts. The more you do the worse it gets.

I haven’t tried restarting the console
Yet…
My static/lag/crackle …what ever you wanna call it, can happen at any time, the game does not need to be played for any certain amount of time for it to start acting up.

What does “n da jungl” mean by “driver/hardware problems”?? Is this pertaining to the Xbone or the headset? Or both?

I have read that a ton of people have this issue but most of what I read was people using the Microsoft headset adapter… not like my situation where I have the headset directly plugged into the controller…

I’m thinking it’s more related to the Xbox one than the headset because this happens with any of my earphones / headset. Restarting does make it go away but it will come back after playing a while and I can force the crackling to come back by playing Rio Full several laps and using rewind.

yeah i was in forza earlier with out my charging lead in and after 5 mins the sound went terrible, plugged lead in and all was fine again…i know its not my controller as its a brand new elite

Thanks for the update,
yeah I just bought a new controller about 2 months ago so I could have my headphone jack instead of an adapter & I absolutely love my new controller (not the elite, just the 3.5mm jack updated lunar white)

-keeping the Xbone on energy saving mode was mentioned a few posts above… thanks for the segjestion.
Energy saving mode is the only way I keep my Xbone.

GRRRR THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING! I contacted the manufacturer of my headset & they said it’s not good for the headset if the audio cuts out / drops. The headsets are not built to have audio cuts/drops.
WTH FORZA! WTH!

Great, now it’s looking like it’s more than just forza. BF4 is popping & crackling.

But forza is by far the worst, scrolling in the menu’s or playing, it’s really annoying!

I haven’t noticed in in the menus but while playing for over 6 hours the other night, it started popping/crackling while racing and the only thing that got rid of it was a reboot. I was using a controller with the built-in headphone jack and a pair of decent earbuds.

Unplug the box after each major use, don’t just leave it running in perpetuity, as it’s my experience that none of Windows’ OS versions liking staying up for long periods of time. Just shut down and box and unplug it overnight and that should help with audio crackling issues.

I run Tritton AX720’s and Astro A50’s and don’t have any issues. Make sure your Xbox is set to output the correct sound signals. So if your headset is stereo, set it to stereo, if it’s 5.1 or 7.1 set the sound output to that. That helps with the low sounds etc.

I use the Microsoft Stereo Headset and also experienced occasional crackling. Typically it would happen when I put the power down hard and generate a lot of wheelspin, but not consistently.

I have the same headset and the exact same experience. but it often takes a couple of hours of playing before it begins… and suddenly disappears again.

I see I’m not the only one. I have the elite controller, hyperX cloud II with no adapter, and I get the audio drop out only with forza. It’s at its worst when my battery’s are near the end of there life, but I get it a few times per race no matter what. I’ve just bought some rechargeable batteries that are stronger then the throwaway batteries I have been using, and will put them in and hope for a difference once my current batteries die.

What batteries are we all using? I’m hoping this helps because I really don’t want to have to put my xbox onto energy saving mode.

Apparently there’s a common issue with the HyperX Cloud 2 headsets.
