I noticed something weird with the electric motor audio in both the Porsche Mission R and the Cupra Tavascan Concept. When you reach around 70 miles per hour there is some peculiar distortion like wind noise over a microphone. I believe it is directly linked to the motor sounds rather than meant to be typical wind noise while driving and it doesn’t sound like it should be there. At higher speeds this sound becomes far more apparent and is quite irritating with headphones. This can easily be heard in behind the wheel and dash view but will disappear as soon as the camera is outside of the car.
With both of these vehicles there seems to be no change between the stock motors and the upgraded ones as well as the Tavascan’s motor conversion.
Testing the Porsche Taycan and Forza Edition Mini Cooper S confirms the older style electric motor sounds are still okay, it’s only with these newest vehicles.
The F-150 Lightning Platinum has a lot of extra audio noise as well but I think this is intentional “truck noise.” While loud and distracting it feels more like it belongs rather than the issue with the Mission R and Tavascan.
