Just had a quick question on the timing of the auction end. I’ve had several auctions where the time will be listed as “1 minute” which will then change to “Less than 1 minute.” Expecting the auction to almost be over I’ll bid and when I return to the “My Bids” screen, it will eventually list as “1 minute” again changing back and forth several times. In short I’ve seen what should be the final minute take almost ten for no explainable reason, which makes it really hard to time when the auction is over and a lot of tense bidding waiting for it to be done. Is there any way to time the real auction end, or does the system give a random amount of extra time at the end?

Yeah, the final minute in the auction house has always been a bit funny. I think it may be affected by last minute bids and possibly how fast the server actually updates. It does make it tough to get that final bid in on a car you really want!
If a bid is made during the “Less than a minute” time, the auction resets to 1 min left. - each time. Some auctions can go on for quite some time

The bidding isn’t “funny” it is the way a real auction works. Some online sites take the last-second bid as being the final one, but in Forza Motorsport it is the latest bid which is unchallenged by a new one. That eliminates the “Oh, my bid wasn’t accepted on time!” complaints, along with having people trying to sit back and wait until the last second to place a bid.
It is fair to everyone, as long as you have the credits and interest in the car.
Auction time depends who runs out of credits first or who gives in. But I imagine there are friends that partner up to run the bids high
