I agree that locking common road cars that people may own and want to play in a racing game is a terrible idea which significantly takes away from the game. That said, thankfully the FiST isn’t limited time. There’s a showcase event in the Domination Championship under single player Driver’s Cup. Shouldn’t take too long to grind up to.
Also, when you go into paint car, the last option is car select. If you choose that, at the top of any manufacturer will be an all cars option. You can choose cars you don’t own to paint there.
Note: While going through the options to make sure I was saying this correctly, the game crashed twice while in the paint menu, because of course it did.
Elite is the painter, not the car. In FH3 one became elite painter with xx downloaded designs. I guess, it is the same here. When he is elite, he can paint a car black and it is elite, too.
That’s how things worked in FH3, but we’ve not had any explanation or confirmation from T10 that it’s the same in FM7. And no one that I know of has found any mention of tuner or painter status even being a thing in FM7.
i can understand if the design have 5 stars … but most of the cars in that section have 0 stars … so still not understand how they can be there! as PTG wildcat says there is no painter/tuners status at the moment in forza7
& Regarding the Halloween Bash Ford Focus, I’m assuming it’ll be available from the specialty dealer eventually. I think Little Vixen just wanted to paint that car, so she did.
Don’t quote me on that, but I recall her saying something like ‘sneak peak’ or something along those lines in her post…
I’m tired, so could be wrong, more than happy for someone else to chime in & confirm or disprove.
If I remember correct LV made the paint of her cat on the Focus in FM5 and it since travelled along. It was well sought after at that time so I guess LV keeps it in the system. Based on Mechberg’s own words, the Focus will become available in future.
Hmm, this AH thing is just so different to FM4 it’s a bit mind boggling.
It seems to me you have to have sufficient downloads on your designs on the Sharefront in order to be able to set your prices on the AH.
I bought a Torana from the dealership in game for 69k. The highest starting bid I could list it was 70k with 77k buyout.
I bought another car at auction, added my paint to it and relisted that and again max buyout seems to be roughly 110% of car value.
But looking at the Elite section, it appears the car needs to have an ‘Elite’ painters file on it for the buyout to be set at a much higher level - so I can add someone else’s paint to the car and sell it for more than I can sell my own? ?
I guess I best get entering some of the weekly contests to get my download rates up, so that I can then choose if I want to sell a car on the AH what I want to charge for it - or at least set it above cost level to make sure I make something on the deal.
I can say for sure I won’t use it in its current state. I will not go through hundreds of cars only to find out if they are even sellable. The only reason why I kept doing Forzathons in FH3 was so I could sell duplicates to make money to afford the ones I was missing. Not being able to sell prize cars destroys that purpose. It’s like they took the auction house from Horizon 3, added an indicator which cars you already own (great, but why can’t I search specifically for cars that I don’t own?) and made everything else worse. And it doesn’t even work most of the time, it’s just incredibly slow. I had an instance yesterday where I had to wait five seconds between each auction to scroll through. Looking for the garage indicator doesn’t help either, as that is only loaded when the car picture is loaded. And I waited five weeks for this? Oh come on …
I did the same in Horizon 3, stopped sharing in the SF as soon as I hit the magic 50k downloads. After that I sold loads of cars in the AH & made a few CRs too. It was actually a lot of fun because I never advertised anywhere, I’d just throw random cars in & check the following day if any went.
Yep will give you the way it worked in FH3 once you have acheived a total of 50,000 Downloads, likes and uses combined you will achieve Elite status or a 5 star painter. Now to sell a car with a 5 star price it 1 needs to be painted by you and also placed in the AH by you 2 it dose not have to have a 5 star design just change the colour you are now an Elite painter now so you can do this and charge max prices for the Elite way you changed the paint colour.
Placing a design from an elite painter or tune from an elite Tuner will not allow you to charge elite prices in the AH, it must have your tune or Design on it and you must have reached Elite status even if all you do is change the colour or adjust the tyre presseur you get to charge elite prices.
@DamMe2006… So far as we can tell, there’s no such thing as tuner or painter status in FM7. It doesn’t show up anywhere in the game and there’s been no mention of it or confirmation from T10. Also, what you posted about setting limits is not how it works in FH3. The ability to set a higher limit is tied to the seller’s status … not what’s on the car. So you can’t add someone else’s paint and sell it for more than you could with your paint.
@ Wildcat -O.k. thanks well that at least makes some sense, wasn’t about to test out the theory by lumping someone else’s paint on a car to sell. Was just looking at the Elite section and that looked like what I was seeing.
I’ve spent maybe an hour searching the forums this morning for some clue as to how it was supposed to work on FH3 without much success lol.
@ MIdnyte - 50k downloads - wow I’m not sure I reached that number in FM6 at all lol
To be fair D it wasn’t that difficult, you only really needed to enter & ‘win’ the weekly ‘competitions’. It’s obvious people rarely bother searching past the first 20 designs that are on show, so once you’re featured there’s a higher chance of getting followed etc etc. (I think I hit the mark after 14 designs or so with a couple of colour variations thrown in. I only made a thread after 10 months because I knew I’d be switching to FM7 & it’s nice to have a catalogue in here).
The other way to rack up the numbers was to just spam the wotsits out of a single design & hey presto you’re a Legend painter - I saw loads of people with anywhere between 200 - 300 cars with the same design on. Nothing wrong with it, just made a mockery of the whole “Legend status” thing.
Just to butt in and give my view on not being able to sell cars on the auction house if it was a reward car/you got it for free - to the people saying “you get it for free, don’t expect to sell it”, what about FH3 with the forzathon cars and wheelspin cars that you could sell even though you got them for free, no reason why that shouldn’t be a thing in FM7. That’s the same as someone giving you a load of cars IRL you might not even want for free, but then forcing you to keep them or to put them in the scrapyard and make nothing from them. It’s illogical, especially if a car you want is a Forzathon only vehicle, for example, and you happen to miss that event and the car. How are you going to get it now if it never shows up in the specialty dealer or another forzathon event for a few months?
