I just saw the trailer for the April Car Pack on GT Planet for Forza Motorsport 7, to all you hypercar fans out there, you’re all going to be disappointed. But there will be some awesome cars like the 2017 Maserati Levante S, Nissan GTP ZX, and the Greenwood Corvette which is my only favorites in this pack. Enjoy it while you can after Thursday. Hoping for some more newer hypercars and for Forza Horizon 4. Hoping for some motorcycles, sport bikes and choppers too in Horizon 4 too.
I have to admit this may be the best pack yet except for the Odyssey. Sorry, but Honda does absolutely nothing for me, but I was hoping the Civic R fans would get their wish.
As for some of the great old American classics making it into this game, I have thrown in the towel. I guess the folk’s at Turn 10 find Honda mini vans more exciting than '69 Road Runner’s.
The two Porsches are more on the obscure side of Porsche’s catalogue and I can dig that.
The Ferrari is a welcomed addition, I just wished we got more cars from the 40’s that are different from Ferrari and / or Ford.
The Corvette C3 is the cursed child from its family line due to the fuel crisis era it was born into. It’s great to get the absolute monster version of it.
I’m never gonna complain about Early Prototype Racers. These old IMSA racecars are killers and they deserve more spots in this game. I legitimately want all of them. (I know it’s the wish list, but search for the Peugeot P88. You won’t be disappointed).
And now the controversial picks.
I wish T10 and Honda had decided to put the Type-R 2017/2018 back in Horizon 3 instead of the 2016. It feels like they don’t want to strangle the diversity with a Type R too close to the one we already have. I say that, but here they go adding the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, a SUV you could make using an engine-swapped Grand Cherokee SRT8 in the game… Hey w/e.
As for the Odyssey, I like the choice. Here’s the thing, oddball cars are always welcomed in Forza to my eyes. People fondly remember FM4 but they seem to forget that it was full of slow-ass cars and the point was to turn them into racing machines. I was one of the few it seems that was digging the Continental last pack. It’s not like the XTS Limousine. These cars can be potentially fast.
Hell, I put the Continental upgraded to its division on the Nurburgring and it beat the Rolls-Royce Dawn using the same “assists”.
AND NOW THE LEVANTE S. The Levante is potentially one of the few SUVs that could actually be justified of being a tarmac user instead of gravel and mud. The main problem here is just the sheer amount of SUVs we’ve had in the packs so far and I understand people’s frustration here. It’s the Division I believe that has gotten the most DLC so far. Plus, to add insult to injury, Maserati announced the Levante Trofeo at the New York International Auto Show, which is even more appropriate to this series.
THERE’S SOMETHING WE HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND. And here lies my defence for Turn 10.
Car manufacturers are [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] for the most part. Hell, Toyota put on the worst attitude this cycle and I wasn’t already a fan of the company as of the last years, but this really took the cake.
The reason we are seeing a lot of these SUVs is because of licensing agreement between Turn 10 and the manufacturers. They want to shill their products and SUVs have been the craze over the past couple of years and we all know that.
Mind you, this is all speculation at this point, I’m not expecting Turn 10 to come out and say this straight up, that would be bad for PR and their relationship with the manufacturers. I feel like it’s a necessary evil.
There’s a lot of stuff that I don’t like with FM7 and a lot that I feel/know I can point the blame on Turn 10. Car licensing however is a tough business and I’m sure, if they could, they would put a lot more cars/racecars/supercars/hypercars.
This car pack really isn’t too bad in my opinion and I’m someone who can complain about all kinds of little things. The Ferrari 166 Inter Sport is a multipurpose car, as the lights and mudguards could be attached and detached. It’s a special car that celebrates its 70th anniversary. The No. 76 Greenwood Corvette is a fantastic competitor to among others the Bob Sharp Datsun and the Porsche 935. The Porsche 906 Carrera 6… Well, I’m not a huge fan of that one nor the Maserati Levante S. I’ve seen the Porsche 924 Carrera GTS so many times on the track and I’ve always enjoyed seeing it. The Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo is a racing car, so why complain? And concerning the Honda Odyssey, I can’t wait to do Honda Odyssey one-make races with friends and try to make it competitive for online racing. I don’t mind oddball cars in Forza from time to time.
Considering the significant amount of time and money it takes to add a car to Forza, I highly doubt T10 is just throwing “filler garbage” in these packs. They wouldn’t do it if they didn’t think it would be of interest to people.
Honda Odessey - its a shame we are getting this before the vast amount of modern cars missing (new S5/RS5, E63 AMG, 720S, M5, Megane RS, RS3, Civic Type R. etc) might of been a laugh in the base game but not worth the substantial premium over the cost of cars included in game.
Maserati Levante - Given how we’ve been told T10 choose the cars and aren’t forced on them, they really choose this over a Bora, Marak, Mistral, 3500GT, the Original Ghibli, They would have added better variety than the over subscribed SUV/Pick up class. Also the Stelvio which is more sporty is one of the worst safety cars I’ve ever seen, looked like its was going to crash at every turn going at safety car speeds. We have over 60 SUVs and the like but only 5 proper touring cars, yay for variety.
Ferrari - We’ve had plenty of old stuff (most of which I like) but nothing relevant.= from the last 30 years of European racing and Japanese racing.
Corvette - Fantastic! great car, group 5 over the dull IMSA GTO cars any day of the week. But I T10 there are plenty of 90s Super Touring cars (BTCC, JTCC) and 90s GT500 and GT300 cars that get ignored by T10 for more American 80s race cars. People will say T10 are based in America, so how does no other developer have this problem? And all except Polyphony are smaller with less budget.
906 - Another Awesome car for a category that needs populating, that late 60s LMP if you like.
ZX GTP - Ok car, I think many like myself would have liked the later car, the one that was successful, plus it looked way cooler.
924 - Not my thing, don’t really car for the 944 and this just seems too similar. Not that that means it shouldn’t be in the game, just its too similar to I car I don’t care for,
Another disappointing car pack. Turn 10 you should be ashamed for charging 100 dollars for vip and these have been the best car packs you can come up with. They have terrible.
FM7 is my favorite Forza ever, as far as gameplay, but these packs… wow. I don’t expect to want even half of the cars from each pack, I’m not that selfish, but the number of SUVs and off-roaders is truly astounding for a game with absolutely nowhere to utilize them. Even if there is an off-road expansion, those vehicles should not have been part of the Season Pass.
Watch, the first pack post-Season Pass will be the most sensible.
At least there are a couple of beast racecars in this one.
Well at least they were able to put in some decent race cars in this pack, and let’s not forget the Levante S, which I have to admit, looks drop dead gorgeous! And as for that Odyssey, well, if we’re able to get a turbo conversion for it in the game, it might make for a brilliant sleeper build!
