So every time I find a lobby of “drifters” no one knows what they’re doing, and I get bored just lapping the track by myself basically. I’ve been playing since 1 and I’m not blowing my own horn, but I’m fairly competent at it. Not as good at leading, but I can lay down solid follow runs. I guess this post is asking if there’s any competent drifters out there who’d want to lobby up and drive.
I dont find myself any particularly good at tandems, but if you are that competent, maybe you could give some cues to what the problem is?
What annoys me the most is the lack of communication, people brake check right before initiation, initiate at very different places and big setup differences.
Creates for a very inconsistent tandem.
All I use to do was tandem in fm4/5 but didn’t play much on 6 and sold my xbox. I’ve bought another console now and the games downloading, give me a few runs and I’m sure I’ll be good enough to make it enjoyable (please take that the right way haha) But yeah, if you’re game give us an add!
Some common problems with tandems :
Different Tunes that drift different (IE High angle cars, Speed vs Style, Tandem vs point, ect)
Different Drift styles (Confident vs Unconfident, again Speed vs Style, Brake vs Hand brake vs Both vs Weight Shifters)
Different Skill levels
Wheel vs Controller (Yes, this does make a difference because wheel will be more smooth than a controller unless an angle locker tune)
No such thing as an “angle locker” tune. It’s just adjusting deadzones that allow us controller drivers to keep up with wheel drifters and be just as smooth.

Yes, the angel lockers are tuned so that they will lock the angle and you can pretty much use just the gas to keep sliding at the same angle or with just minimal correction to using the steering. They can be used with stock settings and work wonders but these tunes are usually on point drifters because of how they drive, IE never want to go straight, harder to control at high speeds, will get sideways just coughing in a certain direction and hold the line.
What sort of level cars are people tandeming with these days? I generally prefer an A or B class car on stock tyres, nothing too crazy.
What is considered a tandem based tune?
If your not counter steering then the slip angle of the rear isn’t greater than the front thus your not technically drifting. Simple as that. Points drifters typically use lots of toe and are very slow.
In reference to the OP, There are tons of great tandem drifters. You just have to know who they are, and you probably won’t find them here.
Yeah, point drifters are slower because of how they are tuned, and they do usually have lots of toe, even at full 5’s so I agree to that. That’s why if someone is in a point drifting car, usually if you make them lead, things can go smoothly, but tandomers can have a harder time cause they won’t be going as fast and the braking difference can mess them up to. It’s all about perspective too. And there is some countersteering in point drifters but they usually tend to steer more inwards than outwards to keep the back end in a certain angle.

I have a lot of issues using the looking for group feature, they claim to be tandem drifting with all the rules etc. But when they invite you they either just drift with no set section, or everyone has race tires or basically a different drift setup, which effects drift speeds, and most of them cant even hold a line without spinning out, The old rules were 650hp cap rwd only no race tires, what happend to that? I’m itching to tandem with other people than can actually do it! Feel free to add me for tandem on fm7 to show the newbs how its done!
