If you do is the only place to mount the shifter up high beside the wheel? Seems like that would be an unnatural reach for it to be that high instead of down approximately where it is in a normal car. But I’ve never had a shifter before and maybe it’s something you just get used to. I’m getting the TH8A shifter along with the TX 458 wheel and T3PA pedals.
You have to have Deluxe Wheel Stand Pro V2 to use T3PA Pedals & TH8A Shifter. The standard Wheel Stand Pro V2 isn’t wide enough for T3PA pedals & doesn’t have a mounting spot for shifter.
You could potentially mod it so that the shifter is located somewhere more suitable for your needs as the shifter mount bolts on, but it would be a lot f effort and I don’t know how stable you could make it. You do actually get used to the location - I don’t have the shifter for my TX but I do have it on my Fanatec CSR (also on a WSP) and don’t have an issue with it (other than the shifter cable being only just long enough for the mount).
It probably sounds more like just getting used to it because I think that’s the only option there is if you want a collapsible stand. I don’t have the skill or patience to try and modify anything. I just noticed the teaser video on Wheel Stand Pro’s website the other day and thought that looks pretty high. Of course I had already been looking at videos from Inside Sim Racing where the shifter is in a more normal position but I don’t have the space or the money for such an elaborate setup.
I have one that I use with my G27 for GT6 and while it seems like it would feel unnatural to reach up next to the wheel, once you are racing you don’t notice it any more and it just feels fine.
