I have a race coming up on Thursday and with my own tune I can’t get this car to break 40 seconds, does anyone have any advice? All parts must be stock.
Personally, I have never needed to do this, but I would think that you soften the front ARB’s to reduce any understeer if needed, and then gear it as far to speed as you can without stalling on the line. I would theoretically take out as much downforce as you can, but since I’ve never tuned an indy car for the oval, you might need some of the aero. Honestly thats all I can think of, but like I’ve said, never done this before. Anyways, hope this helps somewhat.
What can you tune besides tire pressure with all stock parts? What is the car NOT doing? The line through each corner is critical but since you have a “Race” I’m assuming you already know that. For Indy Oval I usually end up with a very soft springs/ARB, higher than normal ride height, lots of camber and caster, up to -0.3F/+0.3R toe, and a locked rear diff (spool). With a 3rd of the track a high speed turn it depends on the build and gear ratio as to which aero settings work be it full-aero, no-aero, or something in between. I am surprised at how often trading top end speed for min corner speed actually wins. I also typically lean towards a narrower higher compound tire option for the PI.
