Any actual professional racing hoppers?

I’ve had this since release but only started trying online this week. I dont think I’ve had a single race where everyone’s objective is to have a good race, people just want to win and I that means a pile up on every corner, then so be it. I literally get smashed onto my roof or into a barrier on more or less every lap and I’m just not interested in that. I dont know why this hasn’t been addressed yet, this is a ten year series and I had thoughts on solutions to this by the second game.

Another thing I’m finding infuriating it that there is seemingly no way to find a lobby with settings that match the way I like to play. I have all assists off apart from the cornering line, and have steering on simulation. I get so much more out of the game this way and find it boring otherwise, but its pretty clear it can be a disadvantage when racing online if there are very few other players running that way.

So my main questions are, how do I get in a lobby where everyone has the settings I like to play on, so as to make it a fair race, and how do I find a lobby full of people that are more concerned with having a proper race than a crash fest?

There are a couple of options… #1 Play in league play, and join the ghost leagues. All cars are ghosts, so no crashing, it really on your skill. Though its luck as to where you are on the starting line.

Option #2 is to join a private league. I recently jointed one with a group of really good guys that race V-8 cars on Friday nights. For the most part we may have 1 caution flag per hour of racing. Really respectful group of guys, and if not they are let go.

Option #3 Start your own league with friends… There is a Racing League page here in the forums to find new members.

Good luck, it does suck to get wrecked every lap in online matches.

I wasnt aware of leagues but that sounds a good idea. Not so sure about a ghost league though. Seems a bit pointless and like you might as well just play time trials, I actually like having to figure out how to go around the car in front. A bit of touching and bumping is to be expected and I’m fine with that, its just the tools that ram you a full speed. I’ll have a look around and see what leagues are available.

I couldn’t agree more. So much so I stopped playing in the lobbies… I try on occasion but just this weekend I saw Hummers, limos and trucks on the field to do one thing - smash other drivers out of their way. It lasted more than 5 races as people didn’t boot them?

So I quit and made a private lobby where I invite other drivers whom I’ve “friended” who try and drive/race correctly. I have three real friends all of whom have more real world experience than I (including a Porsche cup driver). I make the game stock cars only, sim steering and damage on with 5-6 laps at only real tracks. I don’t care if they want ABS and the other tc, as for the most part just slow you down.

Why stock cars only? Because I don’t need a vw bug from the 60’s that’s faster than a modern ferarri. It’s stupid and shows a gaping mistake in philosophy of the game. I really don’t need to see who’s best at manipulating the game to produce the best fake car.

However if interested let me know ill add you to the list - I have a wired 100+mbps download and 75mbps upload. I carry races of 5-9 real drivers and add 5 AI “unbeatable” into the mix.

My experience is literally 100’s of hours of real track time (mostly here in Southern California but button willow, Fontana speedway, willow springs (and “streets of” their smaller track), Laguna Seca, and finally Sonoma (which was Sears point last time I went). I did formula dodge more than a dozen years ago, have driven cup cars and got my start in good ol’ 125cc karts.

I’d rather play with 1-2 real drivers and AI drivers than the unsavory bunch I find in the back 1/2 of the pack in the lobbies who can’t share a SINGLE turn. I’ve literally never seen a online lobby race without mass destruction in turn 1.

Can you add me, and invite me to this lobby if ever we happen to be on at the same time? I’d love to race with you as we share the same philosophy it seems.

Thanks!

Will do - on my next login I’ll add you as a friend.

Leagues are your best option, seems to be better racing there than the hoppers. The problem however is, you have to race what t10 dictates you race in leagues and cant just choose the class you actually enjoy.

All Multiplayer Hoppers allow for any Assists to be used, and have Damage set to Cosmetic.

If you create a Private Lobby you can restrict the Assists that people can use, but you cannot search for other peoples’ Private Lobbies.

We definitely need the sim league back, 3 days of glory is all we get apparently…
