[ANSWERED] Soooo… Where is my 150hrs+ progress gone?!!?

Hi everyone,

I own FH4 Ultimate Edition on PC since its release + all its current DLC/expansion,
I had to uninstall it 3 weeks ago to free some space on my computer, but I decided to re install it today to try the latest patch.

After waiting approximately 10 minutes for “syncing data”, I was surprised to start from the first event with the McLaren Senna…
Ok then, maybe that’s a thing when the game is freshly installed, so I spent 15 minutes doing this event I already did so many times…

BUT, even after the end of the event, I have to select a new character and everything is going like it’s the first time I’m playing the game…

I had 150+ hours on the game, a ton or super rare cars (2004 STI, Ford Crown Vic, the Hoonigan Porsche I finally got after grinding street race events again and again and again during so many hours etc.)

So, where is my actual save/character, and how do I access it?

There is absolutely no way that I’ll start everything again if I can’t access my actual progress, everything else is still saved (like the controller settings and some other things).

Thank you for reading

EDIT: On my “Xbox” app, I still have all my stats: time played: 5d 22h 36m, 40 achievements earned, 215 cars owned, close to 3 mil influence points… So why is my game starting at level 1 with absolutely nothing?

EDIT 2: I tried several things with my local save folder called “wgs” by renaming it by something else do resync the game with the cloud, but nothing in particular is happening.

EDIT 3: Playing the game from start isn’t really a problem since making money is super easy, I’m just worried about the super rare cars I had (listed above) that I will probably never see again…

EDIT 4: Is there a way to use someone else’s save file (wgs folder) ? That would be a super great thing, even if some cars will be missing.

So during your 10 minutes syncing data, what happened? Did it sync, fail with option to try again, or option to load current file?

Basically once you overwrite your cloud save, your old save is gone.

Did you happen to also have previously played the game on your console? If you have, and it’s a more updated progress save. You could launch the game on your console, offline, play at your old save spot, then get console online while game is still active which should make your open session update your cloud save.

I only have the game on PC.

The syncing didn’t work during the first launch, it stayed stuck at 0% indefinitely.
So, after waiting for a while, I had to cancel it (it was still stuck at 0%).

Next time, I had a message saying “We can’t sync your data with the cloud right now”.
So I searched on the internet if I could find something about this, but I didn’t really find anything helping.

So, I decided to launch the game again, then it started to sync, this time the percentage went up very slowly, it took about 10-15 minutes, then the game started from scratch…

I found the page to send a ticket, so I sent one with all the informations listed above.

I also read the line saying that if the game starts from scratch without showing the actual progress, nothing can be done to go back to the proper data…

I don’t understand how things can mess up this easily, without doing anything in particular…

It’s like buying furniture and bringing back home, and boom, 5 months later everything is gone… Just wow

It’s really pretty stupid on Microsoft’s end that there is no reserve save back up for when the sync goes bad since it rarely works properly. Truly pathetic. Then again, it IS Microsoft.

The sync never works properly. This is why you always back up the save folder locally. Once you replace the folder after the botched sync, it should ask if you want to pick the cloud or local. You choose your local save. I back up all my Microsoft save folders every few days in case this happens.

Ok, thanks for all the replies guys, I learned it the hard way I guess…
I didn’t even know that I had the possibility to save something in case it happens…
Especially when I’m used to play games on my Steam account which is almost 16 years old and never caused any similar problem during all these years.

Once again, starting the game isn’t really a problem since earning credits is quite easy, but getting back some of the rarest cars of the game is really the hurting part

Hopefully someone will answer to the “official ticket” I submitted.

Thanks !

Steam is a way better interface and doesn’t screw up your saves or mess up downloads. Never have an issue with it. Microsoft could learn from them.

Never had an issue with syncing and switching between xbox and pc all the time…from playing fh3, fm7 and fh4
I must be one of the lucky ones

Hopefully they’ll compensate you credits, for credits on hand and garage value. They have the ability to identify that.

Anyone having issues with Lost Saved Games please submit a Support ticket so we can assist you.

UPDATE: So, after submitting a ticket, I got 100,000,000 CR gifted, and 300 super wheelspins. This is great, but I’m going to ask if it’s possible to get the 04 STI back, because I don’t think I’ll get it back even after using 300 super wheelspins.

Cheers

Try sumbitting another ticket…or if your other ticket is still open use that

Or maybe do all your wheelspins and see what happens

Note…Deliberate misspelling too btw
