I recently purchased the Hoonigan car pack for forza 7 on my xbox one. It downloaded with no issues to my xbox but it will not let me download the cars in the game itself. I tried restarting my xbox multiple times and even uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I was wondering if I am doing something wrong or if this is an issue with the car pack.
I Preordered The ultimate edition and I’ve done everything from restarting my Xbox and calling GameStop they told me to contact you guys about it and I’m still waiting on a response from you guys I felt like I wasted a $100 on this game that I didn’t get what was featured on the game I’ve never had a issue before with this until now
The Hoonigan car pack was only available for pre-orders of the digital version from Xbox Live or Windows Store. Pre-orders at Gamestop or any other third party seller were not eligible to receive the car pack. This is why you haven’t received it.
Also, not true. T10 officially stated it would be available at other retailers as well. Most people seemed to have missed the emails that contained the codes for the pack.
Really? I saw a few others that pre-ordered from Gamestop and asked where their pack was and why the code they were given didn’t work, and they’ve been told they weren’t eligible by T10 themselves. There seems to be a great deal of confusion over this, wouldn’t you agree? My guess is, it’ll be a paid DLC when the marketplace opens, and anyone that’s redeemed a code will be able to get it once it’s available. Again though, this is purely speculation on my part.
They had said in the past that any retailer was eligible; however, I will say that the last and only time I ordered a digital product from Gamestop, I paid it off in store and NEVER received a code, despite multiple calls to them and Square and that was for two FULL games and not pre-order content, so I wouldn’t be surprised if people ran into problems with the Hoonigan pack here.
We don’t have a Gamestop here in the UK so that’s possibly a blessing… I tend to get most of my stuff through Amazon, although as play anywhere features are only available on digital versions, and I don’t own an Xbox One, I didn’t have much choice but to get it from the Windows store ;0) Not that the Hoonigan car pack is any use in career mode, as none of the cars meet homologation standard for the divisions they’re in…
On the official anouncement it does state that the Hoonigan car pack will also be available as a standalone pack. Is that only for Horizon 3? Because I held out on making a pre-order on Xbox Live thinking the pack would be available for purchase seperately as the official announcement does state so, also because I was hoping for a better price elsewhere and wanted a hardcopy anyway. I purchased the pack for Horizon 3 and was hoping to also purchase it for FM7, as I only got my copy of FM7 Ultimate Edition a day ago I was hoping the pack would have been released for purchase by now, (3rd of November) as the official announcement also states the Ultimate Edition owners get early access on the 29th of September and Standard Edition owners on the 3rd of October. If the pack doesn’t become available for purchase that will be pretty dissapointing considering it was not clear that it was exclusive to Live digital pre-orders especially due to the statement that it will be 'Available as a standalone pack." and is cleary dated and priced for FH3 but not for FM7. If you read the announcement on the 10th of August the information is in the first paragraph and makes out that the pack should have been available for purchase on the 3rd of October, but any insight into whether or not it is actually going to become available for FM7 would be greatly appreciated.
The blurb only said it would be a standalone pack for FH3. It may well be released as a paid DLC for FM7, but nothing has been said so far on whether it will or not. So far, the only way to have got it was to pre-order the digital version.
My interpretation of the blurb was that a digital pre-order granted you access at no additional cost, it never mentions that it is exclusive to the digital pre-order only and that is why I said that it was unclear.
Yeah a lot of people got caught out as they pre-ordered physical editions from third parties and then found they weren’t eligible. Some people that bought the Ultimate Edition also thought they were going to get it, but didn’t. Someone needs to have a word with the press dept and tell them not to use such confusing dialect. Make it clear, keep it simple, remove all doubt.
The “official” response since though, has been “only people that pre-ordered the digital copy are eligible to receive the Hoonigan Car Pack in FM7. It is not available anywhere else.” Now if only they’d said that in the beginning…
They DID say that at the beginning. Here is the first paragraph from the official article:
Forza has teamed up with motorsport-lifestyle brand Hoonigan to bring some of the most iconic Hoonigan cars to Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3. Fans who pre-order Forza Motorsport 7 digitally will receive Hoonigan Car Packs for both games at no additional cost (Note that players who have previously pre-ordered Forza Motorsport 7 digitally before today’s announcement will also receive the two Hoonigan Car Packs). The Forza Horizon 3 Hoonigan Car Pack will become available on Aug. 15 for free in the Xbox Store for Forza Motorsport 7 digital pre-order customers, with the Forza Motorsport 7 Hoonigan Car Pack available to play on Sept. 29 for Digital Ultimate Edition owners through early access, and Oct. 3 for Standard Edition owners. The Hoonigan Car Pack is also available as a stand alone pack.
The only part that wasn’t clear is the last sentence that states it’s also a stand alone pack since it does not state whether it is for FM7 or FH3.
It’s this sentence that people tripped over. A lot of people took this sentence to mean that the Ultimate Edition owners would get it too. I knew what they meant, but unfortunately, some people skim over press the releases and only pick up the bits that are of interest, often taking things out of context. For the record though, I knew what they meant ;0)
I like to call that selective reading. It;s exactly like you said, it’s not that people didn’t read it, it’s that I read what they wanted to and interpreted it incorrectly.
