[ANSWERED] Forza Horizon 4 wont launch (PC)

This also worked for me!
Thanks.

But the FH4 demo had no problem with the MSI Afterburner.

Thanks, just bought the game last week and this fixed it for me too.

I uninstalled and re-installed and it still won’t launch. I have disabled all anti-virus and malware programs.

I am running a Ryzen 1800X with a 1080ti, 32Gb DDR4

This crap should boot.

I paid $100 for this as a birthday present to myself after a hard few months. Just freaking help me.

Closing MSI Afterburner fixed it for me too

Have you tried turning off spatial sound? Worked for my friend.

Game is crashing for me if i have vr headset plugged into HDMI. Removing the headset or just disabling it from device manager gets the game working but without sound. To get sound working i need to plug inn my headset directly into my xbox controller.

I had alot of the same issues. I turned off my firewall and the game started working. After it crashed about 30 minutes later I turned it back on and now it will start every time. Granted it still randomly crashes but at least you can play for a bit here and there until they get the new patch out.

if you have any kind of VR,WMR plugged in unplug the hdmi cable also any msi afterburner or so also turns those off

For me to, but if i restart my PC and instanly launch the game it works. also the demo works fine but the game does not start.

I think it is realy embarrasing for the game becouse, if i for comperasion buy a game on steam and try to start it IT STARTS

I fixed this problem by shutting down EVGA Precision XOC. I don’t even have the OSD enabled, but still can’t start the game with XOC running. After the game starts then I restart XOC and haven’t had any problems.

Just to add I was experiencing this issue too - closing down MSI afterburner and Riva Statistics fixed it and allowed me to launch the game.

I have the exact same problem; it launches for 2 seconds then crashes. Nothing I do keeps it open

EDIT: I moved the game to my D: drive, and it is now working. I tried other things, like uninstalling rivatuner and MSI Afterburner, so those could’ve helped, but it works now. Maybe try moving it to a different drive (if you have one)

That means those of us that have only one drive are totally screwed. GG Microsoft.

I cant believe this is still an issue. It was the same for horizon 3 and motorsport 7. Haven’t microsoft even bothered to look at their past mistakes?

I have both horizon 3. motorsport 7 and stupidly i bought horizon 4 and all still have the same issue. And yes, i’ve tried all the fixes including the admin account and the downloading an app for the store etc.

Pissed as i never even got motorsport 7 to run and only managed to get about a few minutes of horizon 3 to work before microsoft updated win 10 and caused all this mess in the first place.

And of course, no refunds even though they can see i havent been able to log any play time in any of them.

I got a refund, even though digital products are non-refundable. Just say key words like “Ultimate Edition promised that game would be playable on 9/28/2018, but game won’t launch. It almost feels like false advertisement.” Or something like that. They won’t even hesitate. Got mine in less than 5 minutes on a chat session with the representative. They are actually really nice and very helpful.

I got my game to work by disabling all sound devices on my PC. This is definitely not a permanent fix and is a little disappointing, as I can’t hear anything while I play. Here’s hoping they push out an update soon.

My game is not launching, bought the supreme edition an it does not start, tried running as admin, changed the spatial sound, pretty much everything the community recommended and still is not working, was this some kind of false advertisement?

Yeah won’t launch for me either, spent last two days trying to get it to work. Just crashes after a couple seconds of the splash screen, since it doesn’t even get into the game there are no crash logs. Only evidence of a crash is showed in windows event log and that doesn’t show much just that its something like an access violation or something, I imagine its to do with UWP or the windows store somehow. I don’t know if it makes any difference but I have Windows Enterprise. I have tried pretty much every fix in the book at this point. Updated windows, updated drivers, reinstalled it multiple times, reset the app, reset the windows store, turned off anti virus, I don’t have any overclocking software so that’s not the issue, I don’t use any recording software either except nvidia shadowplay but since the driver for it is specifically optimized for Forza there’s no reason why nvidia would get in the way. I’ve tried everything like I say, even updated my bios for the hell of it. Only thing I haven’t done at this point is reinstall windows all together but I’m not going through all that to play one game. Weird thing is though is that I even tried reinstalling Horizon 3 and that didn’t work either so I have no idea what’s going on. Since the game seems to work for a lot of people its just like what the heck man. The windows store in general is just an absolute broken mess, when resetting Forza the store randomly forgot the game was installed for a while and it took me like 10 tries to get the game to install and detect the game files again. On top of that there isn’t even a way to verify game files and I can’t even move the game to a different drive because it just comes up with an error. Dunno why but the windows store just hates my empty 1tb seagate barracuda for what ever reason. Overall just a big pain and maybe if microsoft let the devs put Forza on steam I wouldn’t have to deal with this frustrating mess. I wonder why there isn’t more backlash against microsoft cause windows 10 is awful.

I have tried almost anything. I have uninstalled MSI Afterburner and Avira, I have reset the game. Haven’t tried reinstalling it because it didn’t resolve the issue in the demo so I have no hopes for this version. How do I remove the spatial ground (I’m german and don’t know what you mean by that)?

I’m especially furious because this issue doen’t even shown up on the known issues tab. I don’t know what to do, I hope I might get a refund on this bacause if this game doesn’t work in the next week I don’t see a reason to keep this dead meat on my hard drive. That playground doesn’t address this issue makes me feel left behind as a costumer and I think this will be my last Playground games title.

If we would deal with a minor issue here I would understand that this has’t been addressed yet, but this is a major issue. The biggest at the moment probably.

Tried everything on this post, uninstalled MSI, disabled sound devices, windows store reset, free app download, and everything else, still won’t start
