[ANSWERED] Forza 7 wont even launch anymore on pc

Every time I try to open forza, the launcher opens for a few seconds and then just closes, no errors messages or anything. The problem was intermittent but now is constant. I have tried updating drivers for my gtx 960 4gb, as well as updating windows and forza to the most current versions and still nothing. Its funny because I just got my multiplayer to work about a week ago and now I cant play the game at all… If anyone has fixed this issue please let me know!

Same here. didnt play since 2 weeks, Laucher closes almost immediately. Due to Win 10 creators fall update, or the last Forza 7 patch ?..
Forza 7 Demo seems to have no issue…

Quick update that may be useful to some of you: my problem has been solved by reinstalling faulty game controller driver.
In short: If this happens to you, check your peripheral manager: if one is in error, you found the origin. Can happen sometimes after a system upgrade…

Happening to me as well. I have a RX580 4gb. Performed an update on driver as well. Did a roll back. Issue persists. Horizon 3 works though.

I FOUND A FIX!!

for some reason you have to uninstall at least one of your dlc’s and then reinstall it, then your game should work properly again. It seems that this issue is on a schedule, so you might run into the issue multiple times.

I hope this helped someone.

Hey man. How do I do this?

Just reinstalled the game. Working now.

Good old Windows Store…

First, download any random free app from the Windows store, this can sometimes “force” the re-association of the account. If that doesn’t work, try one of the following…

Go to start> settings (cog wheel)> apps

Scroll down to Forza app. Click on it. Click on the “advanced” link. Uninstall/reinstall any/all DLC

Scroll down to Xbox app. Click on it. Click avanced, hit the reset button

Scroll down to the windows store app, click on it. Click advanced, hit the reset button

Right click the start button, from the list, select Command Prompt (admin). In the box type wsreset.exe

If all else fails, you can reset one of the the Forza game apps. This will delete your save so you will need to ensure your cloud save is up to date.

If it’s still not working, unfortunately the uninstall/reinstall the game option is the only one that remains

I just tried all of this and nothing worked. I’m going to have to reinstall the game again even though I just did it 2 days ago and I only have a 6mbps connection. I’m not sure why I still bother with this game. I just want to race, not trouble shoot every single time I play.

To those getting the open and insta close issue. Quick fix:

Open MS Store

Search for Forza 6 Apex

Begin install of Forza 6 Apex

Once the download starts and gets a bit downloaded, cancel the install.

Launch Forza 7. Enjoy.

Additionally, if you are getting frequent CTD’s during the game, I seem to have completely eliminated mine by simply setting my system page file to minimum 4096 and max to 8192.

Once I did that nearly 12 hours of crash free play, mem usage hasn’t gone over 4-5GB at all.

do u have 8gb ram in your system or 4gb?

Hi Everyone,

If you are still having this issue please email forzafb@microsoft.com so we can look into this and add your name to the list of affected users.

Thanks,

Email sent with my findings on how to reduce game crashes (if not eliminate them) and how to fix the insta crash that reports with the DCOM 317 error.
NOTE: My above post and steps resolves the crash on launch for me every single time. The page fail settings have allowed me to have the game running for over 8 hours. Doing a broadcast now…

Note on my system config:

i5 3590K
970 GTX
16GB Ram
256 Samsung SSD EVO PRO
256 AData SSD

Game is installed on secondary SSD, on same sata controller (SATA III 6Gps)

OS is configured to install apps by default to secondary drive (Settings>System>Storage>Choose default save location)
