[ANSWERED] Cut Scene Audio Only [PC]

I solved the problem by downgrading to an older Realtek sound driver (even R2.82 didn’t do it for me, but R2.80 did it).

Then unchecked “Disable all enhancements” box, unchecked as well all “enchancement” option.

So, my advice, don’t go necessarily for the latest sound driver, but the other way around in the contrary… Try older sound drivers. It works for me, at least with a Realtek HD Audio!

This shouldn’t be marked as “resolved”

Unchecking the disable all enhancements in my sound settings fixes it for my Realtek onboard sound and desktop speakers, but that is not a solution. I have a Sound Blaster USB card and gaming headset that I’d rather be using but can’t because it will only work with the enable extra audio enhancements box checked to ON. That causes everything to sound awful and echoed.

I have the same problem, sound don’t works when I use the mobo jack, but when I use the Xbox Controller P2 jack the sound works perfectly.

Try everything EVERYTHING on this post and nothing works. Even had microsft or turn 10 studios noticed this?

Did you reboot after unchecking the disable enhancements thing? Ya gotta reboot or it won’t work.

After a full re-install after the last patch broke the game completely I decided to try if this sound bug was fixed with my PCI-E X-Fi card. Nope, still the same issue. I don’t like how this topic says resolved and the developers are not communicating with us regarding these existing issues.

So I am very interested in playing the full game, BUT as it stands now, I can’t buy it and here’s why.

Like the rest of you, I have no audio save for the cutscenes (in the demo)
I’m using a ‘SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless’, a DTS: X [v2.] 7.1 surround wireless headset with it’s own transmitter (the transmitter is connected via USB)
Any changes made to the audio I do through the transmitter and through the SteelSeries engine.
Windows Sound settings offer few options: I can adjust the frequency (which is 16bit, 48k–DVD quality), and spatial audio (which is set to off, since:

  1. it’s a bad mix with DTS, and
  2. it causes the game to crash on startupotherwise)
There is not even an ‘enhancements’ tab in the audio settings for this device.
This also means that I am not using Realtek onboard audio, or a plug-in soundcard like the Soundblaster Z that I have (not currently installed)

I have tried the game with DTS disabled, I have tried with spatial sound (both windows sonic and dolby atmos); I cannot go higher than 16bit/48k …I’ve tried everything that I can even with reboots inbetween, as per suggestion of the staff here.
…Nothing.

When I run the game off my onboard Realtek soundcard–through my speakers (headset can’t be hooked up to anything but the transmitter), the game works just fine.
So I KNOW it’s either a 7.1 audio, or 3rd party software thing (perhaps even a 3rd party hardware thing)

Thing is…I didn’t buy this expensive headset to not use it.
I read on a thread somewhere that “7.1 audio is disabled for the demo,” but I have a hard time believing that,
and even if that’s true…how do I know that it’s properly fixed in the retail version?
I don’t wanna waste my money on a game that I can’t play in full audio-glory as I can EVERY other game.

Any updates or insight would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem with my wireless Corsairs HS70…audio would stop after the Miscrosoft Studio splash screen. What did the trick for me was disabling all my audio devices and only having the headset active and as default.

Hope this helps someone.

Gave this one a shot.
To no avail (for me at least), unfortunately.

Thanks for the tip though!

Another victim here…

I have been playing without any issues since day one.
Yesterday I had a powerloss while playing on PC.

Booted the PC and launched the game. No sound after the intros. If change the output to my monitor it works fine. It doesn’t work with my SteelSeries Arctis 5 headset.

Bought the ultimate edition… not acceptable.

Still nothing. Tried every suggestion in this thread.

A bit ridiculous that its marked “RESOLVED” still when it’s obviously not.

Same problem as everyone else. It was working fine and then it wasn’t. I’ve tried changing drivers and all of the other suggestions mentioned in this thread. No other games or applications have a problem.

I noticed that the sound would start out playing properly and then stop as soon as I tried to a feature that triggered Anna’s voice-over, audio output would stop.

If you’re using some sort of wireless output device, try switching to a wired one, as well as enabling at least one enhancement as mentioned elsewhere on this thread.

I experienced this problem while using bluetooth headphones. Plugging the headphones in via the 3.5mm jack into my soundblaster sound card fixed the problem. I didn’t even need to restart my computer or the game.

Logitech G633 No Sound. No Option the unthick Enhancments cuz there arent any.

FIX IT!

So in the full game, I don’t have audio with Realtek drivers again (the sound out of the back of my computer). Tried all the tricks that made it work in demo. Nothing.

At least, for now, I can get sound via my wireless headset but I’d love to play through my speakers and subwoofer :frowning:

(Seeing as there is little response from any official members,
I’m hoping, at this point, that the update due this Thursday will bring some necessary fixes in regards to this problem.

EDIT:

Can confirm that the update, out on Oct. 23rd did not fix the audio issue for me.
Silence persists.

I wish there was some official word on this. The ongoing silence is…troubling.

It’s funny that they still can’t get sound working properly, being a Microsoft game on a Microsoft OS.

It’s not surprising though as it took them a good 6 months to a year to get FH3 working properly and maybe this game doesn’t CTD constantly like FM7 did when it first got released.

However, I wouldn’t know as I am not buying a game I can’t hear. Ubisoft likes my money it seems, at least they have sound in their games, I bought ACO and now enjoying that.

Wake me in 6/12 months when they fix this… maybe they could ask the work experience person for some coding advice, they sure need it!

Hi Everyone,

We are aware of issues where some people are not getting in game audio outside of video content. We did introduce a fix in the patch released Oct 23rd but it doesn’t appear to have resolved the issue for everyone who was experiencing this issue.
Please make sure you have the latest drivers for your audio device that sound enhancements are enabled for your device as specified here: https://support.forzamotorsport.net/hc/en-us/articles/360001999387-Audio-Troubleshooting
The problem relates to some devices being unable to create a spatial audio endpoint as even if you are not using spatial audio the game is sending a spatial enabled output which windows will convert to your designated audio output.
We are working with the Windows team to find a long term fix, as well as investigating alternate audio rendering solutions for the game short term.

Thanks!

Thank you for this, much appreciated!

Thank you for shining some light on the current status.
Here’s to hoping we’ll see a fix sooner, rather than later.
