An early-game request

Most of us play Forza games for dozens or even hundreds of hours, with little to no reason to start a new game. The ‘early game’ is something we experience once before it becomes a distant memory. But work goes into making the opening of every Horizon game spectacular, so I think anything that detracts from that spectacle should be sorted out!

This is my main request: allow Horizon 4 to automatically import controller and difficulty settings from whatever Horizon/Motorsport game was played last.

Horizon games start by seamlessly transitioning from cutscene to gameplay and the flow is wonderful… until you inevitably pause to sort out the settings. Imagine if your preferred settings were set right away? That flow would go unbroken and the first 5 minutes would be a whole lot better. It’s a small, tiny thing I know, but I think it’d be a genuine improvement.

Second request: make the opening FMV skippable. God, those things are annoying.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that skipping the intro would break the flow far more than an optional pause for settings.

By the opening FMV, I mean the live action, narrated movie that talks about what is means to go fast or whatever. I find them pretentious and pretty much just roll my eyes until the actual game starts.

Close your eyes. Listen closely to the sound of my voice. By the count of 10, you will be in Horizon.

You just made me think of the Endangered Species intro from FM4. God it still gives me goosebumps. One of the best intros in a Forza game ever.

This definitely seems like something that should go into the wishlist thread. However, the intro and preset assist are for players who are new to the series.

By the count of 10, you will be in a completely unfamiliar car, on a completely unfamiliar territory, in the company of strangers that cannot shut the hell up for five bloody minutes. Instead of searching for the meaning of “going fast”, chances are that your immediate philosophical pursuits will be more fundamental, classic, even ancient: “Where am I?”, “Why am I here?”, “Where am I going?”, “Where did they hide the settings?”

As ANNA’s tireless algorithms supply yet another answer to a question no one asked, the eyes transition from a movement of rolling within their sockets, to one of rolling outside of them.
