So are we ever going to see a rebalance for the AI difficulty? Racing on difficulty level 6, in JDM Legends Enthusiast Tour, my upgraded R33 B600 is being outclassed by a RX7 that’s B580. I don’t see how I can be 3 seconds behind an opponent that’s in a car 20 PI points lower than mine. If I turn down to difficulty 5, it’s a cake walk. Difficulty 6? They’ll walk away from you from the start. This has been an issue since launch but I don’t see where it’s been acknowledged, or a rebalance implemented.
FM7’s AI did some quirky things, and perhaps had some quirky balancing, but the racing felt a lot more fair, competitive, and fun. Heck, the original Forza Horizon had better AI. The AI balance in this game feels way off for me.

PI rating doesn’t tell the entire story.
Is your car tuned for grip or speed?

AWD cars are slow, rly słów on this game.
They generally are but tuning the diffs makes a massive difference. In the wet they can even be quicker. You cal now also swap the drivetrain without having to grind

Oh well everytime I RWD swapped any AWD car, I gained min 1s/lap.
Tho it’s true that setting center diff to 95 helps with tyre wear (multiplayer) but overall AWD is too slow.
Sounds like you need to modify your car a bit to make your driving more competitive, you say cakewalk at lvl 5, and lvl6 they beat you? So tweak your setup and work on beating lvl6. That’s where the actual fun is… upping your driving and setup skills like a real racer. Not everyone wins at lvl8, some of us are slower doesn’t mean the AI isn’t working. The AI has other issues that’s for sure, but being unbeatable isn’t an issue for most. Some guys are lvl8 starting at the back and winning, rofl…
I think this demonstrates why a difficulty slider (with values of say, 50 to 100) is needed, rather than the current “8 sizes fit all” approach.
Almost like real motorsport cars eh?
I personally always run lvl 8 since it makes no difference to me anyway, ai is just too slow.
But with difficulty I think for:
Level 5 u can beat with auto upgrades in any car if u are skilled driver.
Level 6 u need atleast chose proper car
Level 7 u need to atleast know what upgrades do and chose good ones
Level 8 u need some basic knowledge about meta parts and fine tunning.
And then sky is the limit.
Lately when doing endurance fomo race with level 8 difficulty and starting last, I was able to overtake everyone twice on kyalami. (U could use 2x meds, and ai was using 2x hard and not upgraded cars)
Also ez way to make your car better.
-always use race transmission and manual+clutch (u don’t even have to use clutch with race tranny)(there are some exception where cars are faster with stock/street transmission, but m/c shifting is just pain in 4$$ and not worth it on long run)
-upgrade suspension, ARB, rollcage to race (let’s ignore meta tunes that uses weird parts, u are not ready for this.)
-upgrade weight reduction if u can (2nd most op upgrade in game)
-use weight balast if your car is rear heavy to make it 50/50, (it just makes rear heavy cars faster)
-never, never, NEVER upgrade flywheel and clutch, it’s just waste of pi, w/o any effect to shift time.
-CHEESE ai with race tyre upgrade (and change compound in race to SOFT)
-Always install race diff (I just 100/0 all cars, but well someone may not like it)
and sport breaks are better than race.
In the end it all depends on car. And I did not write anything about brakes tho xd
When racing online I always upgrade to min sport brakes so that I can adjust them, but when needed I use race (just to drop weight or fit in pi limit)
Is this true? In what way are they better?
It’s just more about being able to put different upgrades, since sport brakes in most cars lowers pi compared to stock/race brakes, overall race and sport brakes have similar pace.
If we ignore weight reduction race brakes give, then race brakes cost only around 1 pi more than sport brakes, and give about that much braking power increase. But since race brakes lowers weight quite a bit, what makes them a lot.
Even if sport brakes are better, difference won’t be bigger than 0.1s/lap so… At least that’s maximal difference I got when testing brakes, surprisingly stock and street brakes also got similar pace, it’s just that not being able to adjust braking balance, makes car usually undesteer too much when braking.

Have you git an example of a car where adding ballast to get balance and not to hit a PI target makes a car quicker?
I got a pretty good 50-50 base defult tune for me so yea you need to tune the aero, sway bars, springs and diff diferently depending on weight balance.
you can adjust sport brakes also.
I mean u just add more power to get pi limit. Unless u drive R/P/X class, then u usually don’t use weight balast at all, (unless op F1 cars downgraded to p class, or lmp cars downgraded to R class)
But for eg, Porshe gt2 in a class would be lot faster with balast and 50/50 balance than w/o balast (both 700pi)
