Sorry I thought you were saying adding ballast just for balance made the car quicker.

BUT only rear heavy cars, if car is front heavy, adding balast will make car slower.
I noticed it on the Clio V6. Not that I did any sort of scientific testing, it just felt quicker and more stable with ballast.
And to this day, I’m not sure if it’s just because it brings the center of mass back towards the center (which is certainly better than having all the mass on the rear, on a short wheelbase no less), or if it’s because if bring the CoM down as well (because the Clio V6 should have naturally a high CoM due to the car having never been designed to have all its naughty bits in the rear).
Pi calculations allows u to put more power/grip if your car have worse start, so if u move center of weight from rear to 50/50 u are loosing grip at race start but overall gain better power to weight ratio while keeping the same corner grip.
ballast pi drops more if your less than 50-50.
