So I went to check out my new Huracán with the monster themed paint made by one of the kids at the contest. It erased the paint job off of it! I was really looking forward to driving it so I was wondering if there is anyway to “remove” it.

Do you mean that the garage icon is just a plain yellow Huracan? If so that is a known glitch - view the car or take it out and use it and you will be able to see the paint.
If you removed the paint/painted over it though - it is gone and there is no way to get it back.
Unfortunately, T10/PG does not resend gift cars. The design is gone for good, sorry.

Ok thanks both of you. I did get rid of it for good…
If you want to view the car, go to the game and photo mode, or use the “view car” option in the garage.
You cannot view locked designs in the paint booth or apply vinyls section. The game does warn you it will erase the design if you continue and you must wait a second and click the corresponding button for “I understand, please continue.”
Sadly, you’re screwed and the paint is gone for good. Now would be a time to look at the kid’s pictures and photos of the car and make a replica 
All hope is not lost.
A workaround for viewing the gifted custom paint job on the garage icon is to load/make and reload your tune-up. I made and reloaded one for my Veneno and BAM, the custom paint job showed up in the preview window, restarting the game or restoring to default tune-up didnt effect the preview of the custom paint jobs. Now if there was a way to view customizations in the recommended designs section, that would be sweet.
I am having an issue where paints are dissappearing too…
