A message to the devs

I’ll probably never receive a response from a dev but here’s to hoping, right?

I’ve been a fan of the Horizon series since the beginning. What drew me to FH1 over the traditional Forza series was the open-world drifting. Being able to drive around the open-world to your favorite drift spots and, if you were playing online, there was a good chance you’d run into other players drifting there as well.

In my opinion the FH1 map was the best for players that like to drift. We had access to two excellent high-speed courses for higher powered cars, near Red Rock and Finley Dam, and a low-speed course for less powerful cars near Beaumont. This offered diversity in the cars you could drift and could entertain players for hours on end.

I was a bit disappointed at the map when FH2 came out. But it wasn’t terrible. My biggest let-down was the absence of a low-speed course for lower powered cars. But I digress, because overall the course near Castelletto was excellent. It was long, with some tighter sections and some longer sweepers, and offered enough variation in route to keep us entertained.

The FH3 map has completely left me yearning for more from a drifter’s perspective. I’ll admit the team has done an excellent job on improving the off-road fun to be had in FH3. Some of the off-road courses are really great compared to FH2. But it seems this has come at the cost of good drifting roads. In the FH3 map we really have no access to a long drifting course like we did in the previous games. I’m not even going to complain about the lack of a low-speed course because we don’t even have access to a high-speed course! Yeah, there are a couple of turns to link here and there but they’re not truly a course that you can drift for hours on end without feeling bored, are they?

I have hope for the series. Although disappointed with FH3 I’m sure I’ll still purchase FH4. I just hope the devs will listen to what the consumer wants and give us access to low and high-speed courses. Not just a couple turns here and there.

Are you sure about this? Because drifting around Byron Bay and Surfers Paradise at night is pretty much my favorite thing to do in FH3. I can spend lots of time doing it. There’s hardly any traffic during the night so the rare traffic cars add some spice to it.

The downhill drift zone leaving the desert is also a personal favorite. And there are quite a few good drift zones in the game… The problem is the random obstacle spawns, but whatever.
