A Doctor Who parody video shot in Forza Horizon 4!

As the prospect of Mexico draws near, it didn’t seem right to leave Horizon UK without a Doctor Who parody.

This is a special prime time sci-fi edition of the “What’s on the telly?” series. Dexter Hoo, PhD is quirky alien who is something of a cross between Willy Wonka and a chatty Mr. Bean. This abbreviated version of a regular TV show captures elements from many of the Doctors over the years. For instance, the 1924 Austin 7 is a reference to “Bessie” driven by the third Doctor.

Full disclosure - This video required a hefty amount of green/blue screen work and supplemental animations. You’ll see why. I always try to exclusively use Forza game content for the visuals in these videos. This proves challenging when it comes to shooting interior sequences. There wasn’t much I could do about needing non-game content for the control room and the Tardis interiors. But fortunately the game provided a suitable and humorous substitute for the blue police call box.

Granted, this probably wasn’t what the game creators had in mind when they gave players such a versitile ability to capture game content. But after spending so many months racing around this beautifully detailed landscape, I personally find it interesting to see the cars, characters and scenery from the game show up in a sci-fi movie or one of my silly and satirical TV commercials. Intentional or not, the Super 7 game mode also made it possible to supplement videos with custom built sets. If you’ve watched some of my other videos, you’d recognize the pieces.

My apologies to the Forza purists. I like drifting and racing too. But for those of you who appreciate the game for more than that alone, please enjoy!
