Can someone please explain to me how to do this utterly ridiculous challenge? I’ve tried getting into a drift using the long corner on the ice lake and then tapping the barrier with the rear of the buggy but it either doesn’t register or hits it too hard and ends my skill chain. All of the other Hard challenges haven’t been an issue but this one simply isn’t registering. Am I doing something wrong?
This appears to be the only place on the route I can do it but right now it seems impossible and I’m tearing my hair out trying to get it!
Do a 5 lap blueprint and use something other than a buggy, there is one good spot, and one okay spot to do a drift tap. The OK spot is on the Ice Lake. It’s OKAY because you have to take the turn REALLY wide to have a chance to even come close to the wall. Then there’s another easier spot.
5 laps in an AWD snow car should give you enough time to get it right. I think you only need 2 or 3 of them. I think I used the Ford Escort whatever model on the third try and got both taps in the first lap. I tuned it up to be pretty powerful and it took the turn on the ice lake wide all on its own. lol. In fact I think I used a Tuned version of the Ford that’s used for the 3 star bucket list downhill drift, which I gave up on completing because stock the car just doesn’t have enough power for me to do the drifts AND beat the timer. Mostly because I suck at drifting.
I just e-break drifted near the wall as I crossed the finish line on the first and second lap, it’s a gradual turn and you can guage the drift to gradually tap. I use an all warthog blueprint for cross-country races.
I have spent close to 2 hours trying to get this. No matter how hard or light I hit the wall nothing registers as a drift tap. I am beginning to wonder who is more stupid. PG for putting this in as a requirement OR me for spending so much time trying to do it.
Funnily enough I was trying it in the buggies by rewinding over and over but still no dice. It also seemed to fail to register the drift every so often after rewinding and re-playing. I’m not sure if that’s just a timing thing.
Blueprinting really is the answer to many of the challenges. This one I did in my Chevelle. And actually my second tap wasn’t even a tap, the game counted it as crash and reset my skill chain but still counted it towards the challenge!
I usually go with 25 laps on this track and rack up skill points/ chains
I had a number of taps not show and agree kind of a pain to do at race speed and it took a bit to realize to do it at start finish line
You can register drift taps with nose of car. And not just tap rear. I got both of my DTs. Near start finish line. If you search XP Farming you should be able to find examples of drift taps. DJS (don Joewon song) has a YouTube of it. But after October update they made a cool down period between each drift tap so you have to wait 9 seconds I believe after doing one before it will count another one.
Drift taps have a 30 second cool down period as of the October update. If they have lessened it to 9 seconds that’s news to me but pretty sure when I was racing last night it was still 30 seconds.
I drift tap constantly in races, as not only OWNING every car is part of the fun to me, but having EVERY car MAXED out on upgrades as well, so I collect skill points and redeem them for the Mechanic perk to upgrade cars for free.
OMG this is so easy when you understand what kind of drift taps it requires. I’ve knocked down trees, fences, rivals, snowmen, flags etc. Nothing worked. But after reading this thread I’ve just pressed and held the handbrake and my Huracan HE did the rest of the job, didn’t even require more than 2 laps and no rewinds.
