First of all I appreciate Turn 10 offering us the 2015 Mustang GT for free. As a Mustang enthusiast I’m excited it’s in the game. I know Turn 10 touts their attention to detail but there are problems with the car.
Problem 1:
Horsepower, Torque and Weight are wrong.
Forza 5 shows:
421 HP
391 LB-FT
3618 LBS
Ford Released the following information for the GT on the 2015 Mustang July 17th:
435 HP
400 LB-FT
3708 LBS
Problem 2:
The model shown is a GT with the Performance Pack (wheels and dash correct). The Performance Pack deletes the spoiler (looks much better IMHO) but the Forza 5 model has it, so technically it’s rendered incorrect. I see you can buy an option to take it off so at least it’s fixable.
Not sure where the disconnect was between Ford and Turn 10, but I hope they can correct at least the stats. Maybe the correction will come after the official performance numbers (0-60, 1/4 mile) are given during the media review this month.
Ok, I see you can buy an option to take off the spoiler and updated the first post. That said the performance stats should be correct since it would alter the performance of the car. I don’t think that part is nitpicking.
Given the time it takes for them to render a car for the game, it is likely those were the stats they were given at that time. Pre-production models are always subject to change, and it is most certain what Turn10 had to work with, was a pre-production model. The difference isn’t that great anyway.
A few possibilities and points (some similar to Schakals).
For this car to be in the game now it would have been started quite a few months ago. Sure stats may be updatable in the game dev environment but it would originally have been based on a version of the car that existed a few months ago. Given the stage of life this car is at it may have only recently had its real life stats and specs finalised.
In addition to that I believe that the license holder needs to approve at least some aspect of car modelling in the game before the car can be released. I think this is mentioned in a video I will try and find.
Exactly and a difference of less that 20HP, ect, is a rather small difference. And still, it doesn’t change the fact the car they used for scanning, ect, was a pre-production model. anyway, I’ve stated my views on this, I’ll just move along now.
The 15 GT in Performance Pack trim will outperform a 12-13 Boss 302 LS on the track. Which means it will also out handle the 13 GT500 but it doesn’t in the game. That is why stats matter plus the car is in production now…at least in the US. It just can’t be sold by dealers until 9/9/14. Again I appreciate the car being in the game just pointing things out in the hopes Turn 10 changes it in a future update.
I own a 14 GT500 and have been following the development of the 15 Mustang closely.
If you mean out handle (differentiated from out perform) then I disagree with you. I drove the GT earlier and found it handled quite a bit better than the other Mustangs in the game. I have no idea if its handling stat is more or less than the others in game but on track it is the best handling Mustang I have driven. I usually drive Mustangs for what they are not for how they handle but this one will likely get into my lobby roster which means it handles well.
Edit: if you mean outperform then I would need to run some laps (I will not both with PI or stats only lap times).
As most people who have been playing this series through the years know those stats don’t mean much. I remember in Forza 4 the 458 Italia was like a 10 top speed or something rediculous, and at 212 mph it definatly wasnt one of the fastest cars in the game. Thats only 1 one example but I think they put those stats there to give people a general idea of what the cars can do, so it doesnt take 15 minutes of people staring at hp and weight trying to figure out which car to pick. Theres so many aspects that go into making these cars, and there is so many different characteristics they give these cars thats so much deeper than just a 5 stat rating system. Just like the benchmark data, I wouldnt take those stats or pi too seriously, because the only way to know how a car handles is to drive it.
And also the shelby comes with better tires in the game so maybe thats why it gets a better handling rating. If you really want to compare the 2 the only way is to drop the 5.9 L engine in both of them and run some hotlaps
9.7 for the speed rating on the 458 in FM4. Those stats are a scale and a 10 for speed equates to a certain speed (call it 220 mph say) - and car that does 220 mph or more will be a 10, even if it does 270 mph.
Yes, but a lot of that has to do with the additional power of the GT500. Anyways back to playing, just dropping some 15 Mustang education on the Forum. Maybe all will be right and the GT350 with it in Horizon 2.
As for the points about being done months ago, I understand. Just saying updated info has been out there for at least three weeks and pointing that out. Sorry I’m big on attention to detail.
Prob the most ugly mustang ive seen its a shambles …looks more like a boring euro exec car than a muscle car…lol should have put the Dodge Challenger Hellcat in …
Well… Ford must have approved everything with Turn 10 before they put it in this game. So… Either way this is a game. Say thanks and move along. Accurate enough.
I am very appreciative getting it for free. Just pointing out some inaccuracies. I think Turn 10 did a great job with the render, but would like the car in game to reflect the one on the street…well street next month.
