2:30 at Road America with a Saleen Raptor, is that a good time?

Obviously it’s an S class. I do a lot of hot laps at Road America to test my cars because it’s my favorite course. I live in close proximity and have watched races there and it feels like a “home” course to me. So I use it. I see it’s also a fast and long track in comparison to some. Actually I use the small course at Road Atlanta quite a bit which is like the exact opposite.

Anyways… I got a 2:30 with the Raptor and I was just curious if this is competitive or not. It’s totally stock. The funny thing is my laps are still ugly with a car that fast. It’s hard to stay put with that much power on tap. I still prefer driving much slower cars. This is like watching a Friday the 13th movie or something. Which I never did like scary movies. It blows my mind how fast they can go down the straights though. Wow. I think I almost hit 170 down the long straight. It’s hard to watch the speedo and the road when you’re going that fast. The road seems to shrink a little in width. LOL.

You may have to upgrade the car fully into S class for a decent comparison. Obviously depending on tracks and such, a max PI and top tuned car can be considerably faster than a stock car, and perhaps more so on a track like this. Also if the car is only a tiny bit of the way into S class, it will be closer to A class in performance than top of S class so that’s another reason why tuning can be helpful.

Also what assists are you using? If you’re not using TCS and you’re struggling to handle with the power you may want to flick it on just for consistency’s sake. I actually use it most cases in S and up, just so I can focus on the driving aspect. Also good tunes often eliminate wheel spin which is helpful.

If you would like any help, cars, tips or guidance PM or message me for sure

If your new to Forza, then yes, that’s a fairly respectable time, though I wouldn’t say competitive… Before I posted a reply, I took the car out to see what I would run. Totally stock straight from the dealer with no tuning whatsoever and no assist I was easily able to run 2:20’s. The car is actually fairly easy to drive. The only issue I had was the braking pressure. I generally need to run it high due to my wheel set up, but I was still able to compensate and run some fairly good laps. I’m by no means one of the faster drivers here, so I’m sure others could run even quicker laps. The bottom line is, did you have fun driving it? I’m guessing you did! Keep practicing bud and I’m sure you’ll shave a few seconds off your time pretty quickly.

Thanks for the responses. I still have a lot to learn and the way it seems I don’t know if I’ll ever be competitive. But man I’m having fun playing this game. I’m very intimidated to do online racing though.

The only way you can test if you’re competitive is to run in direct competitions with whoever you’re aiming to compete with. Don’t be afraid to go into hot lap or rivals and chase some ghosts as that’s what many of us would have done on our quests to improve. I’ve spent days chasing my friends’ ghosts and days racing them in public races and organised community events and it’s made me what I am now.

I’m not hooked up to xbox live yet, so when I do hot laps I’m just chasing my best times and these tracks. When you’re hooked up to live is there a place that you can CHOOSE who you chase? Because if it automatically just set the faster cars, that would be like ridiculous. LOL.
