Your Least Favorite Track

VIR tops my list, Cota and Dubia are up there as well.

Yas Marina is the most uninteresting, horribly designed waste of space and pavement I’ve ever seen. There is not a single moment of anticipation for me in going around that circuit, except for the finish line so I can be done with it.

I just hate Sonoma Raceway. It’s a tight track with lots of uphill/downhill sharp turns, narrow roads, very few places to overtake. In addition, the AI is generally a disaster on that track. That first uphill turn is just destruction derby …

Against the AI just about every corner at Sonoma is an overtaking opportunity. Against real drivers, less-so.

VIR

Its a toss up between Bernese Alps and VIR for my most hated tracks, in FM6 I couldn’t hit the spectate button fast enough. Unfortunately this option is not available now so I usually grind it out at the back or leave the lobby. I used to hate Sonoma and Sebring but love both tracks now.

Dubai and VIR. I just can’t find any rhythm on either track.

VIR Patriot.
Turn right, left, right, left, right, left, right and that’s just one lap.

Rio, my absolute don’t like at all.

If Turn 10 ever looks at this forum, the only thing this does is increase the chance that they remove tracks in the next version. But hey, at least we will have a new forum post to voice displeasure in.

Yes please!
-Rio (bumpy sectors, crash fest online)
-Dubai (it’s basically a track for arcade games. Makes me puke)
-Bernese Alps (see above)
-Prague (see above)
-Sonoma (in FM7 it’s dark and depressing)
-Maple Valley (I really hate it now with all the freaking depressing rain variations online , it has nothing to do with FM3 and 4 versions)

By the way I’m starting to like VIR. I never thought I would say that.

Its VIR for me too. I find it very difficult to learn.

Yas Marina. I thought it’d grow on me, but it hasn’t. Mainly due to the lack of scenery, I guess.

I’m blown away by all the hate for VIR, it’s probably my favorite track and I start of tuning all my cars there because it has a great variation of low and high speed sections, sort of like a mini nurburgring. I’d probably have an easier time naming the tracks I do like, but I’ll name a few I can’t stand, and will probably leave a lobby if they come up:

-Rio
-Dubai
-Alps
-Yas Marina
-Prague
-Maple Valley
-COTA (sometimes)
-Brands Hatch (Indy)
-Indianapolis

Lime Rock is always pretty boring, not that it’s a bad track, it’s just too short and I don’t find it fun.

How come the once beloved Maple Valley is now hated by some?

Because not everyone likes the same things others do?

Not trying to be snarky, but simply saying, while a lot of people do like Maple Valley, there are people who don’t. For every one thing, there will be people who like it, and who hate it. Just because it was beloved by many, doesn’t mean everyone did.

Probably the rain variants.

I don’t care for maple valley much as the track seems to be wider than I remember. It’s still a tight track to race on but just feels off.

I think one part is the rain variants, but I think some of the elevation has been flattened out of it. To test it, I back into FM4 and the downhill section into the last corner feels steeper.

Why I don’t like VIR?
Because, as mentioned before, it’s not a racetrack, it’s an obstacle course. You wouldn’t want to have a race on one of the autocross courses I think?
Same as with the Nurburg: technically difficult tracks with lots of narrow parts and turns are great. If you want to do a single car time trial.

If you want to have an actual RACE with overtaking and action and couple of cars in direct competition, VIR and Nurburg are not so great.
I hated Maple Valley when I started this game but I’ve learned the track and can get around quite nice now, because you can overtake and actually race there, rain or not.
On VIR you can never do that, even if you know the track by heart. (at least in this game, don’t know about the real track)

Long Beach.

Doesn’t help that the AI manages to turn it into a giant pile-up on the island on lap 1 every time either.

(Not fond of Hockenheim or Virginia either)
