Winter #Forzathon Shop, Festival Playlist events and rewards through September 16

You’re all welcome
Since virtually everyone has Ferrari 599XX E, I put snow tires and rally suspension on mine and went to this infamous danger sign again.
This mentioned lone tree is a good starting point and if you actually put destination marker on (silly me not using that the first time), there is no need for rewind,

Two runs to take out the trees and

I also did the trial with Shelby Daytona on snow tires, got 1st and 2x2nd, bested by player in Alfa Romeo TZ2 (probably on road tires as I could run away from them on snow, but was a bit slower on road.
Team 3:0, with 1 or 2 rammers thinking that’s the way to go

I hope this helps you to do the challenges

Just to note. I did not use snow tires.

EDIT: I used that Alfa TZ2 for the trial and it’s one of the best cars in the game for A class. I won all 3 races and did use normal tires. It’s ridiculous and I didn’t even struggle in the really snowy bits. Cartoon of a car.

The TZ2 is a very good car of course but there really isn’t much challenge to this trial no matter what car you choose, and there’s a pretty great selection of cars to choose from after all! Snow tires are also not required at all - there isn’t even much snow on the tracks besides the first sprint to begin with.
I took the Shelby Daytona, 250 GTO and GT 40 MK II so far and could win all races easily. I suppose most other available cars will also be just fine.

Yeah the AI is non existent after the first couple of turns. It’s a nice class to drive whatever. I’ve already driven all these cars so just went for the quickest. The Daytona is still good in A class but its best class is B.

The Daytona is a ridiculously good car generally. It’s a meta Winter option for S1 (does 54 seconds at Astmoor) and is near top tier for dirt/winter at A. I’m fairly confident it’s the best car for this trial - slightly better than both the TZ2 and 33S. I did 1.09.0 at Holyrood in the Daytona compared to 1.10.1 in the TZ2.

The Daytona is a meta car for sure. I have a few. It’s just in A class I found the TZ2 to better for me. Holyrood is a fun track but that’s so flat out with fast cambered turns you can cut tonnes of angle out of that you don’t really get to use the TZ2’s main weapon as much.

I have a Daytona tuned for A and B class each but I mostly prefer other cars over the Daytona in B class. In A class it’s generally a no-brainer.

I just did 3 laps Holyrood with each car I did this trial with so far (TZ21:11.3 / Daytona 1:10.7 / 250 GTO 1:11.9 / GT40MKI 1:11.5), subjectively the Daytona gives me the most confidence to be able to drive consistently. I have to say I had music turned up to the point where I hardly heard any car sounds anymore and there is a lot of room to improve but I’m certainly no genius at rivals

Anyways, just shows there are a lot of strong & fun contenders for this trial.

I have 5 Daytonas - B class, A drag tyres, A road, A dirt/winter and S1 winter. It’s a great car!

I tried doing rivals but there was no way I could see to control the season and I didn’t time myself in the race. Is there a way to make it winter in rivals?

You can’t change the season in rivals, so only way to do a direct comparison to trial conditions is to set up a winter race and check the times.

Had a fun trial last night - picked an old Porsche (can’t remember which one) and had one other player on my team. As mentioned the AI aren’t up to much so we won each race 650:600 coming first pretty easily, my team-mate in a stock Tipo coming last or DNF’ing. I was still surprised to find myself lapping him on Holyrood circuit in the last race though! Come prepared folks

I won the two circuit races in the stock Tipo (thought I’d try it seeing how bad everyone who drove it was doing). Think I came third in the snow covered one but could have probably won that as well with a bit more knowledge of how the car performs and without being rammed by my teammates.

I might try that myself just out of curiosity, never sure whether it’s the car, the driver, or what mix of the two it is! I hardly ever do these for a second time as to be honest it’s rarely ‘fun’ with the standard of driving normally shown.

Once matchmaking finally worked I did it once more in the stock Tipo, averaged 3rd or 4th in all races after plenty of ramming but was never more than 10 seconds behind first place. Plenty of A800 cars finishing behind or DNF’ing. So yeah, the car’s a disadvantage but lack of skill is a greater one.

First all tuned team ever. Fast group. I did ok. Minimal ramming if any. AI slow overall. Used EB’s winter tune Cobra Daytona

Does anyone know the tune for a Porsche 718 to use in the Trial. It’s just that i had an occasion where i was in a Daytona and another player was in the 718 and they left me for dead in all races. I’ve tried to tune it myself and cannot get anywhere near the speed it had, i have tried several different tunes and they all could not even match my Daytona’s speed and race times.

I’m starting to think this person may have done “suspicous” things to their car. I know i was in one Trial where a Daytona was doing laps close to 10 seconds quicker than my best rivals time for that car 1:11 (which i my opinion is impossible to do).

On both occassions these 2 players were 1 star and had been playing the game for 5 and 9 days respectively, yet they raced like pro’s and made virtually no mistakes that you would normally see a new player make.

Oh and i know i’ve said it before but watching players do wallriding and then gloating with chat msg’s really makes me wish that PGG introduce the same penalties they have in ranked online racing to the Trial. Fact is that if you can’t race and beat unbeatable AI’s properly then you don’t deserve to win any of the races.
