why is the supercharger so loud on the international scout?

the thing is like 10x louder than the engine when it should be slightly quieter than the engine, but on the scout i dont know if i can drive it with a supercharger  because its literally making my ears bleed, the motor is at the right volume but i have the supercharger just way too loud please nerf that sound a little bit it is way too loud… for now im going to have to drive it N/A as i cant stand it…

some cars are missing the supercharger sound maybe thats where the sound went.

Superchargers on diesel engines run significantly louder. That’s just how they are designed IRL. The drastically increased output in that size of engine would logically output an equal amount of sound.

It has a gas/petrol engine in it., the diesel was not offered until 1976 in the states.

As for the sound I have not supercharged mine but a positive displacement supercharger makes a lot of noise IRL, so much to the point that you hear the blower way before you hear/see the car. The centrifugal superchargers are a little quieter.

If it is any louder than the cars in this video you may have a point.

Actually, you are correct, kind sir. I didn’t take into account the year for the truck. My apologies.

I like the sound it makes, personally.

It’s so you can hear it over all those noisy snowflakes…

Same here.

Lol

The new HSV car also has overkill whine.

No that is the way a supercharger should sound, they are very loud, the other cars do not have enough whine. This is from the driver’s seat in a Hellcat, blower is much louder than engine.

Here is an S13 with a supercharger, if you are in front of the car you can pretty much only hear the whine. The only time you hear the exhaust is when you are behind the car, so I guess if you are playing with chase camera then yes the whine is over kill but otherwise it is correct. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAP3YfbvNtg

Nah, the one on the HSV is still too loud, also seems a little too high pitched. When banging the revlimiter you hear nothing but a screaming highpitched sound. And thats not how it should be.

Going to supercharge mine now…
