I am trying to learn how to drift in Forza 5. I was looking for some tutorial on this forum and on YouTube but only found info on tuning/building, not on how to actually drift.
I am starting with donuts - an article about real-world drifting suggested this - but I am constantly spinning out. A good article or video about the basics would be much appreciated.
Yeah that.
Although the video is real life, ALL of it aplies to this game as well.
Not to mention it should be a REQUIRED watch for anyone who calls themselves a drifter.
Thanks! The URL is wrong (has the protocol in it twice - http://https://) but I could watch the video after removing https://
I saw that you were pumping the throttle so I tried that.
I have no problems initiating the drift, I can do it using clutch-e-brake or just by overpowering the rear. My issue is with controlling the drift, the rear swings out and I can not stop the car from spinning out.
Counter steering makes things worse. The most luck I had is with pumping the gas while repeatedly turning in then releasing the wheel - no counter steer. (Note: I am trying to do donuts, not just taking a corner.)
I will keep practicing, hoping that I somehow get the feel of it.
No, the cars I tried were the E30 BMW M3 the Silvia and the Alfa 8C.
I also tried drifting around the track and I find that I can drift through some corners if they are not too long. I use counter steer there when I exiting the corner because I need to go in a straight line more or less. My main issue seems to be with drifting while going on an arc for a long time, longer than what the initial momentum of the car take me through - donut is the extreme case of that.
If your anti-roll bars are set too stiff it will cause you to oversteer and spin out while drifting. Setting them lower with the rear lower then the front will help. Try getting the settings right so you can go full lock on steering while powering through a corner. These settings will vary from car to car and depends a lot on your engine power and car weight etc.
