I will always fit stage 2 fuzzy dice, and street windscreen wipers. Both together can reduce lap times by 1-2 seconds.
But, when it comes to in game, i will always fit;
Race diff, Both race ARB’s, Race Brakes, Race springs. Also would see if an engine swap, or turbo swap for a centrifugal would be an option.
Then, i will look into other options.
If the gearing is ok, i’ll leave the stock Gearbox, and only go up to street if it needs it. Higher classes i go for a race box.
Lighter rims > Prop shaft for weight reduction for the same PI Cost
Weight reduction will come if i feel that on track, the car would benefit from being more nimble, or is in need of reduced weight, such as the Bentley CGT
Reinforcement comes dependant on the car. If it wallows around on track, or can offer a PI benefit, then ill pack it. Stage 1 in this is very useful as an upgrade for a small cost. Normally costing at most 1 PI
Aero depends on the build. Aero for anything other than non-aero specific builds, or those where i want to use an aftermarket part. such as the Bentley CGT kit and the VW Scirocco GT kit.
Then, go Exhaust, turbo, pistons, ECU, Filter, Anything else.
I will never fit Oil and Cooling, Radiator, flywheel, or Clutch. It is wasted PI.
Only part that goes in all my tunes is Race diff …after that there is no secret its a case of trying different builds until u find the best combo for the track u want as everycar is different simple…
Some cars like weight out, some in with more power…some turbo some supercharged /naturally aspirated…race tyres / sport/ stock etc…race box /street etc etc etc its a simple case of trial n error until u eliminate the bad from the good …otherwise known as what u put in u get out/ a bit of effort …lol
I actually always use race suspension, arbs and aero + race diff. Haven’t found a car I liked with stock suspension/arbs.
I try to avoid race brakes and tires. Race tires aren’t really needed unless you can’t keep the car planted or its a BMW lol.
Overall I let the car speak to me. If she’s sleepy I wake her up with power. If she’s overweight I make diet changes to slim her up. If she’s snappy or pushy I give her the goods to calm her down.
Curious Swerve, what is your reasoning for not generally using race brakes? I used to always go with sport but lately I’ve been trying out race brakes on certain builds, haven’t noticed a great deal of difference between the two though.
I use race brakes for 2 reasons… First better stopping but mainly for the second reason. I like the way I can run bias around 55% and get my car to pre pivot going into the corner.
The stock brakes, even on older cars, sometimes are really good. I use race brakes when the car locks up too often. For example, the stock brakes on the Alfa SZ aren’t bad at all but hated stock brakes on most hondas.
I consider race brakes on speed/high accel builds since I’m sacrificing grip and it gets tricky trying to slow those beasts down. Overall though I look at race brakes as a luxury. If I got the extra pi and don’t really need any particular upgrade, i’ll use it.
Else, the saved 3-4 pi gets used with a combination of other upgrades that seem more important to a particular car. I do use race brakes a lot, but I always try without first.
If I was new I would through all grip into it. Race tyres, full width, handling, diff, aero. Then gradually take that away and put more power into it until there is enough grip to get around a corner without crashing or rolling or dying. That’s what I use to do anyway when I was new
